Hi John & All:
Just when you think
you've heard everything.
I was watching CNN
early this evening, and one of the U.S. based reporters was interviewing
a Lebanese delegate from the United Nations. The interview centered around
the latest announcement that Lebanon is apparently willing to
send 15,000 troops into southern Lebanon.
First of all, I laugh
in the face of anyone who takes such banality seriously. If Lebanon is able
to deploy 15,000 troops, with the intent of defending Israel's northern
border from Hezbollah attack .... then why didn't they simply cut-off Hezbollah
in the first place?
Answer: Because
they can't.
Hezbollah is a major
part in the Lebanese economic and social structure, and without it Lebanon
would be in serious trouble. Not to mention the fact that anyone found going
against this Syria-Iran support group, would quickly find themselves lying
dead by the side of the road ... along with their family. This of course
is the main reason why the "polls" show continuing support for this
terrorist group.
When the reporter incredulously
asked the Lebanese delegate if the show of troops meant that Lebanon would
be willing to make the effort to prevent the firing of missles by Hezbollah
into Israel, the delegate responded with a very long-winded double-tongued
diatribe, which essentially amounted to a highly resounding "NO".
The purpose of the troops was only to sit at the back of the pack from those
doing such work, and they were essentially only being sent there as a non-contributing
"show of support".
An hour later, Lou
Dobbs of CNN received basically the same runaround, in his interview with
another Lebanese delegate.
See ya in the air,
Eric
