CHANUKAH and Daniel’s 1290 and 1335 YEARS – NOT DAYS!

I'm presuming that 5 Doves readers saw the post made by Ed P on 3 June 2006, in response to my articles about Daniel’s 70 Weeks.  It was titled  "Response to EAR  - its all about the small fonts".  http://www.fivedoves.com/letters/june2006/edp63.htm

Ed P. comments about the “small font” printing in my article that refers to some dates proposed by George Curle, which attributes the prophetic timeline in Daniel 12:11-12 to the destruction of the first temple in 586 B.C. when “the daily sacrifice was taken away”, adding 1290 prophetic (x 360 day) years until the beginning of the construction of the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount in 687 A.D. (“the abomination”) – leaving out the “setting-up” period of approx. 4 years – and then from 691 A.D. when the Dome of the Rock was completed, adding 1335 prophetic years, which brings the “blessed” final date to 2007.

We know that Chanukah has to do with the restoration of the temple sacrifices in 164 B.C. after the “original” desecration by Antiochus Epiphanes, but unfortunately Daniel does not spell out what the “BLESSING” might be which comes at the end of those 1290 and 1335 time periods. 

As a result of Ed P’s "dating" of events - it looks as if the end of the 1290 (plus 4) and 1335 prophetic “year” period, might fall in Chanukah 2006 (namely Dec. 15/16).   

However, I understand that there are variables in the dates, in converting from the destruction of the first Temple on 9th Av 586 BC, Hebrew Calendar, via the Julian Calendar and finally into our Gregorian Calendar, and ending up at the beginning of construction of the Dome of the Rock in 687 A.D.  That is something I’m not good at working out.  

I wanted to let those of you who might be interested know that the book, "Dome of the Rock" by Jerry M. Landay, which was the source of George Curle’s dates, seems to still be available at ANTIQBOOKS.    If you have a look at   http://www.antiqbook.com/boox/lot/LTS019335.shtml.   It is offered by Lotus Books  and was written in 1972.  

Since Ed P. wrote his reply to my post, I have been mulling over the possibility that this dating could be the correct dating for the end-time scenario which I have been putting forth regarding the Rising Islamic Empire being the foundation from which  “Anti-Christ” or 666 will come, see my previous postings at -

For those of you who might try to fit what I have written into the well propagated tradition regarding the European  “Anti-Christ” scenario, or Gog is Russia etc., or a seven year peace agreement, I can only advise – don’t even try.    Mixing the two doesn’t work    From the perspective I have been writing from, there are two major fulfilments of prophecy yet to take place prior to the 2nd Coming of our Lord.     The first is our “gathering together” by and with Jesus our Lord via the “Parousia” or “Coming of the Lord”, and the second is the 3 and ½ years consummation or tribulation period prior to Armageddon and the 2nd coming. 

As I mentioned early on in my writings, when you change one piece of the previous “Roman prince/ Anti-Christ”  7 yr peace agreement - Russia/Gog scenario that has been carefully put together over the modern era, all the other pieces fall out of synchronisation.

I believe that what is now becoming obvious from some “prophetic quarters” is a “comprehensive” interpretation of end-time affairs which is based in the Middle East (where it ought to be) and which is taking place before our very eyes.     It is the ancient struggle over the “Birthright” to the Land, and the challenges being made to the promises of supremacy given by God to Isaac and Jacob and their descendants.   This is currently being disputed by the descendants of Ishmael and Esau, with support from the neighbouring Arab and Islamic Nations.  

Only “physical” Israel is restraining the “tide of evil” that is poised to take over the World.

If the World in general could grasp the eternal and vitally strategic importance of Israel’s occupation of the Holy Land, and know and understand the diabolical plans that Satan and his “end-time entities” have for this World, once “the restrainer” – Israel, has been removed – (i.e. flees – “taken out of the way” – 2 Thess. 2:6-7  );  all the Western so-called “Christian” Nations would rush to support and endorse her right (both Biblically, Historically and by U.N. decree) to be there and to live in peace without attacks from those who hate her very existence, and want to see her destroyed.   Rev. 12:15-17 indicates that it is after Israel flees into the wilderness that the dragon then goes off to make war with the remnant of Israel AND those who “have the testimony of Jesus Christ”.

Personally, I would not want to be living in Europe, or anywhere near the Middle East, when Israel has to flee from Jerusalem/and parts of Israel which is her rightful possession.   

Only Israel stands in that territory against the Rising Islamic Beast Empire which is intent on re-occupying the area it once ruled, and from which it was driven, and finally crushed at the end of the 1st World War.   Since that time over a period of 80+ years Satan has reinvented his intentions in a diabolical reconfiguration, populated by Islamic terrorists with tentacle-like network “cells” spread throughout the World.

N.B. It is the frequently stated aim of the Islamic Beast Empire to once again rule the Mediterranean from East to West – from India and Pakistan to Spain, and ultimately to control the World via a restored Moslem Caliphate or Islamic rule.    This was publicly announced from the Temple Mount on Friday Feb. 24th 2006  ( 26 Shevat) by Sheikh Ismail Nawahda, as reported by Arutz Sheva, to “…unite all the Moslems in the world against the infidels”. 

The rising up of the Beastly Radical Islamic Empire is not only the beginning of a “clash of civilizations” but will result in a clash of GODS – Yahweh verses Allah.  

The recent events in the Middle East have caused me to look more closely at the dating proposed by George Curle, and which was discussed by Ed P. in his post.   In spite of my reluctance to go looking for dates, I believe there is “something” here that needs to be looked at carefully.    I’m not great with numbers, and perhaps there are others out there who would like to look carefully at the dating sequence …

What is the end calendar date if one begins with 9th Av 586 B.C. when the sacrifice was taken away from Solomon’s Temple because of Nebuchadrezzar;  and adds 945,000 days, (which is 1290 + 1335 years x 360 days) plus 4 years for “setting up the abomination”  (1,440 days), giving a total of 946,440 days?   Actually the “sacrifice” might have been taken away earlier than this date, because of the chaotic conditions of internal strife and civil war that enveloped Jerusalem, at that time and during the 6 month siege by Babylonian troops, even before the walls were breached and the Temple destroyed by fire;   9th Av. is the generally accepted historical date.

Between that date (9th Av 586 B.C.) and the building of the Dome of the Rock, I have been unable to find any definitive date for the commencement of the work - (obviously J.M. Landay thought it was 687 A.D.) and I concede that the “setting up” of “the Abomination” (as it was called by the Crusaders in the 11th – 13th Centuries) could well have taken 4 years, and the numbers themselves on Ed P’s reckoning follow that line, giving a 4 year gap prior to the completion of the Dome of the Rock in 691 A.D

This “year” date is supported in historical records, and I believe there is an argument to support the fact that this particular “abomination” is connected with what is referred to by John the Revelator as the “gentiles treading underfoot” the “outer court” of the Temple for forty-two months.    See more on this at the end…    The only “specific” commencement date we have therefore is calculated from the 9th Av. 586 B.C.

If the “1290’ is actually “prophetic years of 360 days” and not simply days, (and I believe the Hebrew word used allows for this –  It is Strong’s word No. 3117 “yom”which is used in Daniel 12:11-12  and is variously translated as day, daytime, an indefinite period of time, and years etc.,)  then it certainly can relate to the time periods in Daniel 12:11-12 and the “taking away of the sacrifice” in 586 B.C. until the beginning of the “setting up” of the Abomination (Dome of the Rock) in 687 A.D,  -  1290 “prophetic” years later.  

I guess therefore the variables between Julian and Gregorian in the B.C. period until that date (687 A.D.) are not so important, except in choosing the follow-on “day” date on which to proceed from 691 A.D. and add in the 1335 years until the date of conclusion.  Ed. P puts the terminal date at December 15/16, 2006 which is 24/25 Kislev, the 24th of the ninth month – a Jewish date of importance emphasised several times in the book of Haggai in relation to the foundations being laid for the 2nd Temple. 

However, to get back to the subject in hand –

When you look at the text of Daniel 12:11-12, there really is no necessity for the two “periods” to be contiguous i.e. to follow immediately after one another.   They are obviously separated by the “setting up” or building phase of the abomination.  It might have taken a few days to set up a foreign altar in the time of Antiochus Epiphanes,  (25th December 167 B.C. – interesting date! – just 10 calendar ”days” after Ed.P’s terminal date!)  but in the event that the abomination is indeed the Dome of the Rock – completed in 691 A.D – it would most certainly have taken a few years to build it,  even though it is generally believed that it was composed of “mixed/used” masonry, pillars etc. taken from other buildings – even Churches, (hence some of the Christian symbols found in it.)

Daniel 12:11-12 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.”

What is important is the date from which we commence “running” forward in 691 A.D when the Dome of the Rock was completed, to add in the 1335 “year” period.    In spite of all my efforts I can find no more specific date for the completion of the Dome of the Rock, than a "year" – i.e.  691 A.D.

Ed P’s Kislev 24/25 Chanukah Feast Date seems feasible to me in view of Haggai's (4 times) emphasis that from 24th of the 9th month (Kislev) the Jews would be blessed, and although this initially pointed to the restoration of the Temple three years after Antiochus Epiphanes’ desecration, which Chanukah commemorates, it may also refer to a future date of “great blessing”.  In other words a very auspicious date in the Jewish calendar, and it could possibly be again, but what it might indicate?  I don’t know.  Haggai’s date (24/25 Chanukah)  falls on Friday 15th December this year.   Chanukah runs from Friday 15th December, until Saturday 23rd December in 2006.

I have also found it interesting where this dating trail ends up on our calendar in relation to some other events.

On the basis of Ed’s calculations, the date of 12th Feb. 691 A.D. that he uses – plus 1335 x 360 brings us to 15/16th December 2006, Kislev 24/25 which is Chanukah 1.

Time and date.com  http://www.timeanddate.com/   gives 12th Feb. 691 A.D.(Julian,)  plus 1335 years x 360 days = 480600 days -  as  Monday 18th December 2006, Kislev 27. (Gregorian).  Chanukah 4 when the 4th or middle candle is lit.    However, the period still ends in Chanukah!

As we know, the Temple Mount was regained by Israel on 6th/7th June 1967.   (See the end of this post for an interesting “run-down” of dates regarding the “gentiles” domination of this Holy mount).

40 “prophetic” years by 360 days (14400 days) from 6th/7th June 1967 brings us to the date of  8th November 2006 which is 17th Cheshvon the date Noah’s flood began, (Genesis 7:11 the pre-Moses 2nd month).  There have been several good informative posts on 5 doves regarding this date.     Since there were 40 days of rain with Noah’s flood, if we count 40 days from 17th Cheshvan (8th Nov.)  it brings us to Monday 18th December 2006,  Chanukah 4.

Matthew 24:32-34 has for many people been an indicator of the period of maturity for Israel.

“Now learn a parable of the fig tree;  When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is high;  So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”

 For those people; Israel – the fig tree – was planted in 1948, but was barren because there was no access to the temple mount, until 6th June 1967, when Israel put forth leaves into the Golan Heights, Gaza, West Bank and Sinai Peninsular.    I would say that since then, summer has well and truly come; and with the disastrous withdrawal from Gaza last year, and the planned partition and withdrawal from the West Bank it sounds more like autumn!    The generation that saw all of these events is now ageing.   If nineteen years is the “tender branch” phase – i.e. 1948 to 1967, then the “summer” phase has now lasted almost 40 “prophetic” years.

It is my belief that the time is now ripe for God to begin to reveal his sovereign plan for the end-times.

Solomon’s Temple was indwelt by the Shekinah Glory

We also know that the Temple of Solomon was finished in the month of BUL, which was the 8th month in the Canaanite Calendar; equivalent to Cheshvon.  (1 Kings 6:38).  Modern October – November, the month of Noah’s flood.

Using three different methods – all of which deal with aspects of the “Temple or Temple Mount” -

We have arrived at some near dates ranging from –

This of course harks back to Daniel 9:26 which we have been discussing in my articles about Daniel’s prophecy of the 70 weeks which mentions "and the end thereof shall be with a flood".    Now whether this only points to “the end” destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D. which “came like a flood”, and which I have described in my series on Daniel’s 70 Weeks – (Dan. 9:24-27); or whether this refers to a future “flood” of a similar kind of destruction which would begin the 3 ½ years of Tribulation, will only be proved by events as they unfold.    However, the word used in Daniel 9:27 regarding the very end of the period of time set aside for the “salvation of Israel” is the word “consummation” which means “destruction” or “full end”.   At the present time Israel as a whole has not accepted the “salvation” offered by The Messiah, Jesus Christ” through the Covenant in His blood, when He was “cut off” by Crucifixion, in the middle of the 70th week, therefore this consummation period has a denouement of its own, yet in the future.  Daniel 9:27 describes it as “even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”   What is it that will be poured upon the desolate; will it be good or bad?

It is possible that there may be two types of flood to bring this consummation period to a conclusion which will result in the salvation of all Israel.   One in judgment, the other in blessing.

This of course refers to the attack on the “Woman” (Israel) by the serpent/dragon/Devil/Satan in the last days, - using the “Beastly Islamic Empire” -  the dragon being described in Rev. 17:3 as being “scarlet coloured” full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.  He is the one who empowers the Beasts of Revelation 13, (see Rev. 13:4).

We know of course that “the days/times” of “righteous” Noah and “dubious” Lot were given by Jesus as “markers” for the revelation of the Son of Man (Luke 17:22-30).   We also know that they and their families were removed from danger prior to the flood by water, and prior to the fire and brimstone from heaven.    If these two men represent both the Church and Israel; instead of believing only the Church will be removed from danger, perhaps we should  believe that God intends to remove Israel from danger too. 

The word “flood” is Strongs word No.4215 “potamus” which means river, stream, or torrent; and is translated as “river, rivers, floods, flood, stream, waters”.

It is interesting that the “serpent” sends the “flood” after the Woman has fled to the wilderness place that God has prepared for her where she will remain for 1260 days.  (Rev. 12:13-16)  The vehicle for the flight of the Woman is described as “two wings of a great Eagle”.

Rev. 12:6   “And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they would feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.   V.14  “And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. V.15 “And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.”

These verses have a familiar resonance with the verses describing Israel’s flight from Egypt when God said “…and how I bare you on eagles’ wings and brought you unto myself.”  Exodus 19:4

Satan sends “a flood”, but the book of Joel describes God’s “end-time” blessings as rain.

In referring to His 2nd Coming, Jesus said in Matthew 24:37:41  “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.  Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.”  The next paragraph continues Matthew 24:42-44 “Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.  But know this, that if the Goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.  Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

Are these passages only referring to Christians, waiting for the “rapture” or “gathering unto Jesus”; or might they also refer to the Nation of Israel being moved to a safe place during the Tribulation.

This same passage is more or less repeated word for word in Luke 17:26-27, and 34-36, except for the additional reference to the days of Lot. In this passage the reference to Noah seems to focus on the “social life” whereas the reference to Lot seems to focus on the “commercial life” of the people who will be alive at the time of Christ’s return.  Luke 17:28-30  “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;  But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.  Even thus shall it be in the day, when the Son of man is revealed.”    

Genesis 6:11-13 adds some further details about the days of Noah, that Jesus didn’t mention in his discourse – “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”

We also know from Genesis 19:1-11, that the people in Lot’s days were sexually deviant, corrupt and depraved.

Conclusion:

Jesus said that all these things would be an indication of the state of the Nations at the time of the revelation of the Son of man.   Luke 17:26 and 30.  “…so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.   Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” 

The focus in both of these passages relates to the SEPARATION that will take place.  Luke 17:34-36 and Matthew 24:40-41.    Some will be taken, and some will be left.

It is obvious that God’s judgement falls when Nations die spiritually, and are only interested in carnal and worldly desires.

This is the situation abroad in the World at the present time – the World is full of violence, sexual deviation is rampant.  The average “Joe Bloggs” goes about his business, buying, selling etc., without much thought for God, or that there is a day when all “this” will end.

The 1290 days/years and 1335 days/years  of Daniel 12:11-12 fit well into the terminal dates of this scenario.

I will conclude with a “run-down” of dates and events that seem to corroborate the opinions discussed in the early part of this post.

CALCULATIONS

1290 Day Period  -  Ed. P’s dates.   Thanks Ed. For the calculations

Daniel 12:11“And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.” 

From the date of the destruction of Solomon’s Temple – 9th Av - between 7th – 10th Av. 586 B.C., according to 2 Kings 25:8 and Jeremiah 52:12 

Our calendar dates 15 – 18th August 586 B.C.

Plus 1290 “prophetic” years x 360 days  =  464400

464400 days divided by 365.2415 “Solar” years  = 1271.4875

1271.4875 Solar years minus 586 B.C. plus 1 year (to go from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D.) = 15th-18th August 686.4875 A.D.

15th-18th August 686.4875 A.D. plus .4875th part of a year = 178.05 days =

9 – 12th February 687 A.D.

687 A.D. is the year date George Curle gave for the beginning of construction of the Dome of the Rock, which he got from the book "Dome of the Rock" by Jerry M. Landay.

Leaving out a 4 year construction “setting up” period for the Dome of the Rock , and picking up on the next time period using the same days and month –

1335 Day Period  - Ed. P’s dates.

Daniel 12:12  “BLESSED is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.”  

9 – 12th February 691 A.D.

Plus 1335 “prophetic” years x 360 days = 480,600

480,600 days divided by 365.2415 “Solar” years =1315.8417 Solar years

1315.8417 Solar years plus 691 A.D. (the generally accepted date of completion of the Dome of the Rock)  = 2006.8417 A.D.

2008.8417 A.D. plus .8417th part of a year = 307.43 days.

9th – 12th February 2006, plus 307.43 days =

13th – 16th December 2006.

The words used here for “waiteth” and “cometh” are very interesting in the Hebrew.

Waiteth – Strongs word No. 2442 -  “haka” means to lie in wait, hope for, long for. It is only used three times in scripture.  

e.g.  Isaiah 64:4  “For since the beginning of the World men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.”

Psalm 33:20 “Our soul waiteth for the LORD, he is our help and our shield.”

Cometh -  Strongs word No. 5060 -  “naga” means to touch, to strike, to be plagued, to be stricken, to reach out – ranges from simple contact to violence.   “naga” is only interpreted once in the O.T. as “cometh”  - it is translated mostly as “toucheth”, or “touched”.

Both of these words convey something of our anticipation for the “blessed hope” that we have in the “Coming of our Lord”.    Perhaps a translation of the verse would be better rendered –

“Blessed is he that (hopes and longs for) and (strikes, touches, reaches out) to the 1335 days.

ANOTHER CALCULATION:

There is another calculation that supports the dating of the Dome of the Rock as being “The Abomination” that Daniel speaks of -

John the Revelator in the 1st Century A.D. - Rev. 11:2  is told  “But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not;  for it is given unto the Gentiles; and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.”

Most people attribute this verse to the 3 ½ year time of the tribulation, but when you actually think about it, there have been much longer periods when not all of the Holy City was available to the Jews, because it was controlled by Gentiles.   The last period when it was not available to the Jews, but only to Gentiles (read Islam) was prior to the 6-day war.   On that date 6th June 1967 East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount again came under Jewish control, i.e. the outer court and all of the holy city.

When we take a “solar” year and divide by 12 months we get 30.436 days per month.

Multiply 42 months by 30.436 days and convert into years  =  1278.33 solar years, or 1278 yrs 4 months .

The “Outer court” or temple mount was restored to the Jews on 6th June 1967.  Going back 1278 solar years and 4 months from that date gives us  -

Answer            6th                    2nd                                         689 A.D.  =      6th February 689 A.D.

This is right smack in the middle of the 4 year “setting up” period for the Dome of the Rock (The Abomination) which Ed. calculated to be from  9th – 12th February 687 A.D. to 9th -12th  February 691 A.D.   Some might doubt the veracity of this calculation – however, the dates synchronise so well, I believe we should take notice.   Perhaps other readers have some ideas about what this might mean!   

Is this another intriguing use of a time period of “42 months” to indicate something slightly different from what would be calculated from “time” “times” and “half a time” which is generally taken to mean  3 ½ years or 1260 days – the period in which the two witnesses prophesy and Israel is fed in the wilderness.  

This “long term” fulfilment of the “42 months/days/years” prophecy from 6th  February 689 A.D. until  6th June 1967, could have a further “short term” fulfilment in the Tribulation, when the “Anti-Christ”  Mahdi of the Islamic Beast Empire again tries to wrestle the Temple Mount and Jerusalem from Israel’s grasp during an “actual period of 42 months”, and claim it as His Throne.  That is what Satan’s eternal plan has been all about.   In the past, the Temple Mount has come under the sovereignty of all of the previous historical Middle Eastern empires.    Islam once had it; today’s newspapers tell us that Islam wants it back, using a Palestinian State as the excuse/reason.

2 Thess. 2:4  “…and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”    This is his eternal desire, but the word used for “God” in these references is Strongs Gk. No. 2316 “theos” which can also be used of a pagan God.   It could therefore mean that the temple referred to is that of a pagan or false god, i.e. the Dome of the Rock.    The word “shewing” means to display, exhibit or proclaim that he is God – the sense given is that of self-aggrandisement - in the scenario I present, it is Satan, using the name of “Allah”, who wants “His Man” – AntiChrist to sit there and rule.  

Jesus promised that “except those days will be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”  Matt 24:22

I believe this could refer to a “re-run” in a “shorter time-frame” of the Dome of the Rock Abomination which has dominated the Temple Mount since 691 A.D.until 6th June 1967, when Israel won the 6-day war, and again took control of the Holy Mount.  However, just as they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, so they have allowed “the abomination” to remain for a further 40 years – no doubt to enact  another fulfilment.    Jesus said in Mark 13:14 “But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judea flee ….”

This will be the “end-time fulfilment” of many abominations that have stood on the Temple Mount since Jesus proclaimed it “desolate” in 30 A.D.    In the consummation, we understand that “that which is determined shall be poured upon the desolate”.   As in other places in scripture it could mean both blessing and cursing.   See Deuteronomy 11:26-28 re a Blessing for obedience, and a curse for disobedience.

It seems as if the “extended 42 months of days into years’ calculation” is a major prophetic time period during which the gentiles trod under foot East Jerusalem and the outer court of the Temple precinct, while the Abomination of Desolation, (The Dome of the Rock) was in existence, while the Jews were excluded from the area.

The end-time fulfilment is generally understood to be a “generation” after 6th June 1967 when Israel reclaimed all of Jerusalem and the Holy mount for itself, but failed to take possession and cleanse it of the Abomination which has sat there for over thirteen hundred years.
