August 30, 2006Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - Israeli forces on Wednesday blew up a tunnel in the Gaza Strip that Palestinians may have been planning to use to carry out a "large-scale" attack against the main goods crossing into Israel, the army said.
On Wednesday, the army said it had located a tunnel whose shaft was 13 meters (42 feet) deep and 150 meters in length (488 feet). The tunnel originated in a building in the residential area of Sajaiyeh, the army said, and had been dug in the direction of the Karni crossing - the main supply route for all goods from Israel to the Gaza Strip.
"The tunnel was intended to be used to carry out a large-scale terror attack, apparently against the crossing itself," the army said.
