"Response to Ted Porter re Jubilees and Golden Proportion"

Hi Ted,
I’ll try to keep this short. You’ve touched a subject dear to my heart, so I feel the need to respond.
First, I’ll address your concern about my use of May 14, 1948 as a marked Golden Proportion between the years 1917 and 1967. You quoted from my book Time and the Bible’s Number Code where I had said “The Golden Proportion of that 50-year span lands precisely on May 14, 1948 – to the day.” I remember well having written that. And I remember well the thrill and the joy that I felt at having found it. So much so that I used it in a lecture in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and I said “to the day.” A professor sitting in the audience took his calculator out of his coat pocket and did a few calculations. He proceeded to let me know that it was not “to the day.” However, it indeed was close. So, when writing the Jubilee Study, I re-calculated it to see how close it really is. To my surprise, I landed on May 14, 1948 again. (Probably made the same mistake again.) Now you tell me that I am about one month off. I’m sorry my calculation is not actually “to the day.” But I am still thrilled with the fact that it lands even in the year 1948. As you can see, all of the other Golden Proportion calculations deal with only whole years, not specific days.
Second, I want to address your suggestion that the use of the Golden Proportion is from the occult. You said that James Harrison devoted 23 pages in his book to this concept, showing how it is used by the occult. Yes. I have read James Harrison’s book, and I realize that he did not tell the whole story. Yes, it has been used by the occult. But so have many other things that are of God. For instance, God’s true astronomy is blazoned across the sky every night, and it tells the whole story of His plan of salvation for man. But Satan has used those same constellations to tell something entirely different. Satan has counterfeited many of the beautiful things that God has given to us. God obviously ordained the Gematria system that is in the Bible, but Satan has counterfeited it into various forms of numerology and number fortune-telling. So with the Golden Proportion. Amazingly, today’s physicists have realized that the Golden Proportion is a physical constant, built into all creation. They call it the “Growth Constant.” If we believe that God was the Creator, then we must believe that this “Growth Constant” came from Him. You showed that James Harrison suggested that the Golden Proportion (Phi) is connected to man’s navel, and that the navel is the symbol of man’s fall. Amazingly, the Golden Proportion is built into our whole body. The distance from the shoulder to the tip of the finger is divided by the Golden Proportion at the elbow. Likewise, the distance from our elbow to the tip of our finger is divided by the Golden Proportion at the wrist. And this is only the beginning – our whole body is replete with Golden Proportions. That’s the way God made us. The Golden Proportion is in plant growth as well – it is God’s growth principle. Even the Golden Spiral, which is based upon the Phi principle, is part of God’s creation. The swirl of hair on a baby’s head is in the pattern of the Golden Spiral – and so is the seed pattern of the sunflower (in fact it is in all daisies) – and it is the spiral of the galaxy of the heavens. There is nothing occult about any of these things, they are the creation of God.
The Gematria of the Bible uses the principle of the Golden Proportion in so many beautiful ways that I simply stand in awe of our magnificent Creator who planned it all. Just a few examples. It was prophesied by Micah that “You Bethlehem, you who are little” would bring forth the Messiah. That phrase has a Gematria value of 1958. Divide it by Phi (.618034) and the result will be 3168 – the number value for Lord Jesus Christ. The fact that Jesus was born in Bethlehem has nothing to do with the occult – it was divinely ordained of God.
We can do the same thing with the place of Jesus’ death. He hung on a cross on a hill called Golgotha – but some call it Calvary. Same hill – two names. The Gematria value of Calvary is 301. Multiply by Phi and we get 186. The Gematria value of Golgotha is 186. It is obvious evidence that it was all in God’s control and all planned precisely.
Thus with time, it is all in God’s control and all planned precisely. This includes the time for the rebirth of Israel and for the time when Messiah sets up divine government in the earth. Thus it is not surprising to find God’s use of His Golden Proportion in that planning.
And, by the way, there is another error in the Jubilee Study. It is on page 1 paragraph 4 where I show Sabbath years recorded in history. Somehow the year 45 is listed there. It is purely a typo, please remove it.
