There is a passage in Genesis which is very interesting, and I think I have
been shown its application in the New Testament:Genesis 49:10 (New King James Version)
New King James Version (NKJV)
10 The scepter shall not depart from Judah,
Nor a lawgiver from between his feet,
Until Shiloh comes;
And to Him shall be the obedience of the people. The word "Shiloh" above is a euphemism for the Messiah. The Sceptre
represents the power to impose capital punishment,,, in this case by "the
builders",, the SanHedrin, priestly ruling clergy of ancient Israel. It is a
fairly well known fact that the SanHedrin was deprived of the right of
capital punishment (the scepter departs) by the Romans circa 6 A.D.
While reading, the other day I came to realize that the young Yeshua
was literally explaining the significance of this event, how that it
demonstrated that Israel's messiah was already alive and they should be
looking for him.
By way of "signs" in the heavens, in this case the 18/19 year saros of
the 19 year Hebrew calendar. (The saros being a 12 month stretch of time
containing 7 eclipses). Using the Julian Day calendar, by M.I.T. professor
of astro-physics, Dr. Meese, a saros occurred in 7 B.C.. This Saros likely
heralded Yeshua's birth.(BTW the next saros is 2007-2008). If Yeshua was
born circa 6 BC and we add 6 years to the time of the departure of the
scepter we have Yeshua at about 12 yrs old. Thus It seems that Yeshua is
explaining the significance 0of the event in 6 A.D.: The Family Returns to
Nazareth39 So when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord,
they returned to Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth. 40 And the Child grew
and became strong in spirit,[k] filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was
upon Him.
The Boy Jesus Amazes the Scholars41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42
And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the
custom of the feast. 43 When they had finished the days, as they returned,
the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother[l] did
not know it; 44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a
day's journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 So
when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. 46 Now
so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the
midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47
And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. 48
So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, "Son,
why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You
anxiously."
49 And He said to them, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must
be about My Father's business?" 50 But they did not understand the statement
which He spoke to them.
