Lots of things coming in fours these days, and here's more. Think of the following four passages as the job description for the Messiah, what He was called to accomplish. All of them being from Isaiah, they make a terrific Old Testament witness to prophecy fulfilled in the Life of Jesus.

Four is thought to be the number of Earth, because by the end of the fourth day, the Earth's creation was complete. Days five and six were devoted to populating the Earth, first with fish, fowl, and animals, and finally with God's crowning achievement, man. When Biblical things come in fours, it means the whole Earth is in focus.
