CAIRO [MENL] -- Egypt has tightened security along the Suez Canal.

Security sources said the Suez Canal Authority increased security along the waterway in wake of Katyusha rocket attacks from Jordan over the weekend. The sources said authorities feared a similar rocket attack from the banks of the Suez Canal toward Western ships.

The Suez Canal has 14 observation posts and the sources said access to the banks were sealed. Security personnel were instructed to ban entry to outsiders, including fishermen.

"So far, we have not received any specific warning of an attack," a source said.
