"Peter Jennings: R.I.P.?"

Dear friends:

As you may have read, today, August 8, 2005, after a short battle with lung cancer, NBC news legend Peter Jennings went to his eternal home, wherever that might be.

May God have mercy on his soul.  Few men have done more to more people to discredit the identity and claims of Christ the Savior than Peter Jennings.

He is the one who in the year 2000 produced the two-hour documentary, "The Search for Jesus."  In the year 2004, he produced a three-hour special about Jesus and Paul.

In both cases, he chose radical liberal theologians to be primarily used as his "expert" sources.  In no case were the solid empirical evidences of Christ's resurrection and deity, as well as the reliability of the Bible, presented.  Instead, the very bases of Christianity were treated as a myth.

God gave Peter Jennings a great opportunity to validate to millions heaven's greatest gift to the world, the gift of God's Son, His sacrifice and resurrection, and the opportunity for personal redemption.  Jennings turned it down, by his own choice listened to apostate scholars, and instead planted doubt in the minds of tens of millions, hastening their own trip to hell.

Hopefully, Jennings repented before his last breath and cried out to Christ for forgiveness.  If not, he will forever moan, wail, and regret what he did during his short time on the earth.  In God's economy, Jennings skill as a newsman will count for nothing.  Nothing.

Only one life,
Twil soon be past,
Only what's done
For Christ will last.

Let that be a lesson for all.  Let us not blow the chances that God gives us.

Jim
