Dear friends:As many of you know, periodically an issue of this newsletter is dedicated to your health, a favorite subject of mine for years. Our health is important to God, who wishes “above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2). Not me, but He said, “Above all things”!
Recently, I believe the Lord gave me two wonderful revelations about health:
1. REVELATION #1: HONEY’S HEALING AND PROTECTIVE POWER. For years I have known about the healing and protective power of raw, unfiltered, and unheated honey, but recently I was dramatically reminded. See my August 11, 2005 post at http://www.insights.injesus.com/, which describes possible protection against disease, including flu and even cancer.
God commands us to eat honey! "Eat honey, my son, for it is good..." (Proverbs 24:13, NIV). Must be for a good reason! I have begun eating raw honey again daily.
Usually you cannot get raw honey in the supermarket and instead have to go to a health food store. But I was not happy with some I bought in a local health food store so I did some searching on the Internet. The best source I came up with was a family company, Wilderness Family Naturals, in northeastern Minnesota, “located on the Laurentian Divide in an untouched, unpolluted national forest full of moose, beaver, wolves, and bald eagles. This area of the United States has some of the purest water and freshest air in the entire country.”
In their testimony (see “About Us” on the Web site below), the owner wrote, “The Lord has blessed us…” I thought, “Hmmmm. Sounds like a Christian company.” I wrote and asked if it was, in fact, a Christian company. The VP of Sales and Marketing, Roxana Lopez, answered me back and said, “Ken and Annette are wonderful people and all of our staff here are Christians, soooooooooooo Praise God. The bee story is simply we have a wonderful Lord that keeps dropping these different products on our laps and people keep buying them.”
Amazingly, their raw honey is “made by native bees in the Philippine mountains and is loaded with pollen from the surrounding coconut trees, papaya, mangoes, and other tropical plants. These bees never receive sugar water and are not exposed to chemicals or antibiotics of any kind. The South American and Australian bees that are raised in the U.S. are all susceptible to mites and amoebas. Beekeepers typically use pest strips, powders, and tetracycline in the hives to keep the hive alive for several years.”
I have been so impressed with Wilderness Family Naturals that I signed on to an affiliate relationship. You can check out their Web site, their honey, coconut, and other great products, and order directly from them (I am not in the loop) at: http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=WFN&Affiliate=jbramlett
Infant caution: Some say that honey shouldn’t be introduced into a baby’s diet until some time after their first birthday. It contains a spore that, while harmless to adults, can cause a severe form of food poisoning in babies called Botulism. Others say that raw honey does not present this problem, but err on the side of caution.
2. REVELATION #2: OUR “FERTILIZER” FOR GOOD HEALTH. While driving on an errand one recent Saturday morning, I was listening on the car radio to a horticulturist – a typical Saturday a.m. lawn and garden expert. He was taking calls. One caller needed help with a plant disease. With confidence, the expert replied that “fertilizer will heal the disease and keep the plant healthy.”
A light bulb suddenly came on in my head!!! I believe the Holy Spirit immediately spoke to my spirit and said the same is true for our bodies. If we apply the proper fertilizer to our bodies, we can be healed and healthy. The same God who designed plants also designed our bodies. Are plants more important to Him than our bodies? I don’t think so.
But what does that mean? Surely it didn’t mean I am supposed to start sprinkling Vigoro on my cereal.
The answer came the very next morning while getting ready for church, as I was listening to the radio again, and this time an infomercial about a “plant-derived” nutritional product. There’s that word “plant” again!
The main fertilizer for our bodies comes from green and red vegetables and fruits. Think green and red! They contain a recently used term, phytonutrients. Phytonutrients (phyto for plant) are not vitamins or minerals, but are plant compounds, power-packed nutrients that give fruits and vegetables their many colors also provide nature's medicine for both plants and humans, full of antioxidants.
Mama was right all along when she said, "Eat your fruits and vegetables." The problem is, in our modern, urbanized world it is hard if not impossible to eat the multiple servings of fresh fruits and vegetables needed every day to stay healthy.
To the rescue! There are new products available that provide all the fruits and vegetables we need in a powder form where just one scoop provides the equivalent of nine servings! I did some research and found a company called FoodScience of Vermont. Check them out. Of note, FoodScience has two powerful products:
Superior Greens (full of different vegetables, plus) and Superior Reds (full of different fruits, plus) can be found at: http://www.foodsciencevt.com/Merchant2/agentgo.mv?AG=CFL&SC=SFNT&S=F&RU=http://www.foodsciencevt.com/products.html . Highly recommended. They have other great products at very reasonable prices.
For the Superior Greens, go to the “Specialty Products” category.
For the Superior Reds, go to the “Multiple Vitamins/Minerals” category.May God grant that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. It’s His will!
Remember yo mamma: “Eat your fruits and vegetables!”
