You asked why so many Republicans would vote in favor of CAFTA.  President Bush was pushing for CAFTA, and they backed him.  The second article I listed  under my same 7/29 post that is called "The Robotic CAFTA" at http://www.newswithviews.com/iserbyt/iserbyt28.htm  implies that congressmen were bribed to change their votes with promises of "pork" which would be money for their pet projects in their own communities.
