"... but where would they build their nest?"

Shalom All:

Any of you that have watched "Fiddler on the Roof", do you remember the scene where Teviah's youngest daughter tells her father she is in love with the Russian and wants to marry him?

He tries to tell her that he can understand her attraction to the young man but points out that while a bird can love a fish, they cannot build a "nest" together.

Keep that bird/fish picture in your mind as you continue reading.

I feel that way so much now when I talk with people!  I'm a "bird" and they're "fish"!  Their activities, plans, even beliefs, fit "water" while mine fit only "air"!

I am interested in what they are doing, how they feel, what they need ... but ... my reality is in "air" ... not in "water"!  And My words and actions reflect that so thoroughly that at times the "fish" cannot understand me because they don't understand "air".  They can't understand why I don't see the same humor,  seek the same goals, understand their "water".   Some feel sorry for me that I'm trapped in "air".  I do not want to go into their "water" and can't!  And sadly it seems they cannot come into my "air" or understand it.

I am blessed that my husband and children are all birds in the "air".  That's also why we always rejoice when we meet one more "air" dweller.
