As I was reading this post (partially reprinted below) I was suddenly made aware of a question I once asked myself and the Holy Spirit while reading Jesus' letter to the Philadelphia church wherein He said:Rev 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth...
I wondered then what exactly the key of David might be and now I know that it is this understanding about sin and forgiveness with God... This is what makes the Philadelphia church able to go in at the rapture while other virgins remain in darkness due to their lamps going out... The key of David that opens the door is this forgiveness offered by God through Jesus Christ. The inability to accept that and believe in it is what leaves the foolish in darkness unable to navigate their way through that open door. By the time they obtain fresh oil and come back to that door it is shut and no man can open it... Just like our example in Hebrews where we are warned not to come short (literally wait one day too late as they did) of a promise of God to enter into His rest when we hear His voice. That generation heard His voice invite them into the promised land but did not enter in because they did not believe that God really would give it to them! . They feared the giants. They had a whole day to go in but stayed put. At the end of that day God sent them back into the wilderness to wander and die. They then tried to go in and were told that yesterday was your day and today is one day too late... We are warned not to make that same mistake regarding our promised land, the rapture.
<<David's understanding of the grace of God as expressed in his prayer in large part, fits with God's description of him as being a man after His own Heart.
It was this understanding of unmerited grace that formed the centerpiece of the ministry of Jesus. One of the Lord's earthly titles is the "Son of David."
David expresses his understanding of how the process of forgiveness operates in God's economy.
"Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." (v. 7-10)>>
