"to Gina re: Hayseed Stephens"

Hi Gina and doves,

Just had to find a minute to make a few comments about the article about Hayseed Stephens.

First I must state that I see you believe Hayseed was right on and I tend to agree with you on that.  Second, the article is obviously skewed and I realize you know that, but I must add my own personal experience to this in Hayseed's defense.

As Christians, you can see it is obvious Mr. Donald Wise is not one of us, so its black and white either for Christ or anti-Christ in spirit.  The latter in operation here.  He admits to being the one exception in not raising his hand to accept Jesus at Hayseed's meeting.  Now I'm not one to swallow anything hook line and sinker either, however, I do have the Spirit of the Lord living within me. With that I will briefly relate my experience in meeting Mr. Stephens, and how my spirit bore witness to the entire event and evening.

Mr. Stephens passed away in May, 2003 and the company is now under the presidency of his son Sha Stephens.  No I am not currently a stock holder, I'll make that clear.  If you would like to check up on its history etc., go to their website www.nessenergy.com.  I am not going to research facts here due to time constraints and frankly its not my area of expertise anyways.

What I can tell you is this, Mr. Stephens came to our small prairie city in summer of 1999.  He was an invited guest of another Christian gathering where there were several speakers of completely unrelated topics.  He spoke enthusiastically of the work the Lord had given him to do insofar as the oil company goes.  He was mostly focused on bible prophecy in relation to this and particularly how it would benefit Israel.  He mentioned, this was his heart's desire, to help Israel.  He was held in high esteem by Israel and was considered a "friend of Israel".  Also, he spoke of a nation (can't remember the name sorry) on the African continent where its royal family was converted to Christ and Hayseed was there many times ministering to them.  He really had a heart for souls.  That became evident when he, I believe along with others, was asked to minister to the people at the end of the service.  Ministry of prayer, healing whatever was required.  It was at this time before he went on stage to do so, while people were worshipping that I realized he offered no information as to how to get a hold of him for information on shares etc.  I was thinking in that mode because I thought why would the Lord bring me here?  You see my husband is an investment advisor (stock broker) and I wanted to know more.  So I quietly slipped up to where Hayseed was standing with hands raised in worship and asked him for some more information.  I was a little embarassed because I was the one, not him, who was interested in oil stock at that moment.  He fumbled in his pocket and may have said a word or two, I can't remember, but kindly gave me a business card.  That's it.  I left him quickly because it was a holy moment.  He was so in communion with God.

So goes my experience with the late Hayseed Stephens.  I hope he was right.
