"World weary"

A friend and I have been discussing how we are "world weary."
Years ago, things were simpler, and uncomplicated.
The only bills we had, were the utilities, etc. We had just a few
clothes to wear, and some of us remember when their were
no TV's.

The music was decent to listen to, and did not grate on your nerves.
When you picked up the phone, the operator said, "Number Please."
Now we have to listen to an impersonal voice babbling to us, saying,
If you want this, push one, or push two. You just don't get a human
to talk to, so that you can find out anything.

Because of our life styles, we are in a vicious cycle of having
to work constantly, in order to pay our bills.
People are moving around so much now, that we don't know who
the next door neighbor is.

The world flies by us, as we speed along in our brand new shiny
cars. It seems that people are just seeing how fast they can drive.
People use to be nicer to others. Now, though, they are more
interested in money, than people.

Credit card companies, love to get you to take out their cards, and
they keep encouraging you to charge things, but the first
time you are late on a payment, wham. They let you have it.
Things are just different now than it use to be.
Their is just no love for one another. Just love for things and
money.

Time is flying by, while people are busy scurrying around
doing things. Packing as many activities into the day that they can.
You hardly ever see children outside playing games like jump rope.
They are hibernating indoors, playing video, and computer games
instead. They get their nourishment from fast food restaurants.
And many children are dieing from poor health because of it.

We can not return to how things use to be, but I think that
that is why we are now so anxious for the rapture to take us
home. Why we are getting rid of "things", trying to uncomplicate
our lifes. We are in essence saying. good-bye to this world.
We long for that Heavenly rest, peace, and beauty that God has
promised us.
