Hi Joe,I too have wondered why with a Republican controlled House and Senate with President GWB in office, why there hasn't been any real movement on the abortion issue. With all these branches controlled by Republicans then why hasn't more headway been made on the issues you mentioned?
I think Gov. Schwarzenegger's election as a "moderate" Republican governor, who is pro-gay, pro-abortion, shows the direction the party is willing to tolerate in California. He basically did nothing when the mayor of SF starting issuing same-sex marriage licenses in Feb. (He has ordered that one-ply toilet tissue be used at the Capital offices in Sacramento to save money.)
So the Republican party can have its cake and eat it too. Talk pro-life, garner votes, make soothing noises to the base and not substantially change anything.
I'm NOT endorsing any political party as I don't think there are any good choices but prayer. I'm not pro JFK the candidate or President GWB, or a third party.
I do think one could go to the polls and vote on the various offices the way they like, OR not go and they would still be voting their own particular consciences because God gave each of us free will.
