"Re: I don't need this anymore"

Shalom,
To Susan and others feeling the need to "clean house"....I have felt this for about 3 years now.
First we clean our litteral house...but that's not the end of the story.  You see, when we clear the clutter, we get rid of IDOLS.  Things that we worship sort of.  At least they take more of our time and consideration than our "Daily Devotionals"!
Being a genealogist....we have records stored in every corner of our home.  Every spare closet has files, and notes that some day might be able to connect us to someone else...that eventually, may go all the way back to Adam, or at least to Noah!
I found that while I cleaned out the old "Christmas" objects (gifts that were nothing more than collectables) and etc.  that my HEART was also being cleaned of traditions that do nothing but clutter!    The same for birthdays, anniversaries, mother's and father's and grandparents days.   Easter of course was not such a collection piled up....except in memories.  And those too had to be cleaned up, cleared out, and restored traditions.
Now, we have the left overs of hobbies.  Hobbies of the kids, and ourselves.  Ours were mostly of the creation variety.  Hubby was an artist, I was a needlework freek, the children from first picture until wedding everything they did was kept.  Can you ever tally up the TIME consumed in hobby work?   It's a lifetime of work.  Even our genealogy is hobby work.   And these are the treasures that now are being sorted out.  What is going to last....or be needed by others when and if they survive us.  NOT MUCH!!!   For they have their own collections to clean out.
The most valuable thing you can give your children is the TIME it took to work these memories into everyday life....not the articles themselves.   We are now, throwing out these items...piece by piece.
So Long Earth....Hello Eternity.   Dust to Dust.
Thanks be to YHVH who gives us the time to clean out our closets and our hearts...of sinful clutter.  It takes time, but better for us to do it, than to leave it to our children for a heritage.

Shalom,
