Dear friends:
If you are a sports fan, you will recognize the name of David Robinson, the 7-foot-tall former basketball star for the U.S. Naval Academy and later NBA basketball all-time great player. A summary of David's incredible career is at http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/6801/drobinson.html .
But most important, David is a strong and outspoken Christian and exemplary role model.A while back, I discovered that David's brother, Charles, lives a few houses up from me on my street. One day I was privileged to meet Charles. I discovered that he also graduated from and played basketball at the U.S. Naval Academy, spent some time as an officer in the U.S. Air Force (and a member of the All-Air Force basketball team) and is now a pastor. He looks much like David, except not as tall. We have become friends. Charles is a great Christian brother.
Yesterday, during my walk, Charles rolls up on his motor scooter, carrying his small daughter. We stood there in the street at least 30 minutes and chatted about the Lord. Charles told me how much he has been blessed by the healing and miracle testimonies in my new book, THE POWER! He then shared with me some amazing healings and miracles he has experienced in his church. We agreed that such testimonies build faith, which can be contagious. Because of that, I will share two of his testimonies. Maybe some reader needs this and is the reason why Charles and I ran into each other yesterday in such a small and unlikely window of time.
One incident several years ago involved a woman who had been pregnant, but whose baby had died in the womb. She was not even showing any increase in the size of her waist, which was still flat. The woman was scheduled for a D and C procedure. However, before her appointment, she went to the church altar for prayer, and Charles' bishop prayed for the woman. He said the bishop moves in all the gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12). The next morning, she was shocked to discover that her clothes did not fit. She then looked in the mirror and noticed that her tummy was larger. Her husband noticed it too. She went back to the doctor, who was shocked to discover that her baby was now alive! She eventually had a little girl, who is now about seven years old. Charles says the bishop has prayed several babies back to life.
The other incident involves a woman who had an underarm sweat gland removed because of excessive sweating. Over time, the wound under her arm from the surgery remained raw, refusing to heal, and she had to frequently replace the bandage because of bleeding. One day she went to the altar for prayer. The next morning, she discovered that the wound had not only completely healed, but there was new skin over it! It was also discovered later that the Lord had even given her a new, properly-functioning sweat gland. That was not just a healing, but a creative miracle!
Charles says that he has a whole book of such miracle testimonies. I told him that if I write another book I would like to include some of them, to which he agreed.
Please pray for Charles, his family, and his growing church.
