"Who is Jesus?"

To all the wonderful Doves that I consider to be my REAL brothers and sisters!  I can't wait to meet you and praise our Lord together forever and ever!!
Please share this as you feel lead...

John 1:1:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Revelation 19:13:

He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Who is Jesus?  Is He a prophet?  Is He the Son of God?  Is He a good man with a good message?  Who is He to you?  Do you know Him as Deity?  Do you know Him at all?  I will tell you that Jesus is God!

Revelation 19:13 in context is speaking of Jesus as He returns with His saints to fight satan and all His enemies in the final battle of time.  So if in this scripture, “the Word of God” is Jesus, then who is “the Word” in John 1:1 above?  No one but Jesus!!!  And what does it say…  In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God.

Do you know and believe that Jesus is God??  Yes, Jesus is the “Son of God”, but Jesus is God.  Jesus is one part of the triune God, or the "Trinity":  God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  The Trinity is basically three distinct persons of our God.  As an analogy, it is somewhat like an egg.  When you look at an egg, you see one whole egg, but when you look further into the egg, you see three separate parts – the shell, the white, and the yoke.  All three parts make up one egg.  Obviously God is much greater than an egg, but this analogy may help us better understand the triune nature of our God.  The following scriptures are in clear support of this:

Matthew 28:19:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

1John 5:7:

For there are three that bear witness in Heaven:  The Father, the Word (Jesus the Son), and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.

To further understand how Jesus is God, remember that God made Himself flesh as Jesus when He came to live among us and die for us as the Son of God.  Once Jesus was resurrected defeating death and hell, He ascended to Heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father, God, until the time of His final return to the earth. Shortly after He ascended, He sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in all those on the earth who believe that He is who He says He is by receiving His gift of forgiveness, confessing Him, and wholly surrendering their hearts to Him.  The triune God, the Trinity, has accomplished all of this – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  In summary…

1.    There is only one God.

2.    The Father is God.

3.    Jesus is God.

4.    The Holy Spirit is God.

5.    The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three distinct Persons Who are God.

So, the question remains…  Who is Jesus to you?  Do you know in your heart that He is God?  Do you recognize His complete Deity?  Do you live like He is your God?  Have you surrendered your life to Him?

I have chosen this focus for this paper for one purpose – to give insight into the power and Kingship of Jesus, so that we might live for Him!  In looking at how we live today, it is painfully obvious that for the most part, we do not see nor honor Jesus as God.  It seems that we live for ourselves – we have our lives full of activity and things.  In addition, we are very reluctant to say that Jesus is God and He is the only way to God.  We have become a people who are in need of nothing and who have no passion to proclaim our firm belief in our Lord.  This is the reason that we are lukewarm and apathetic towards His Kingship and Lordship.  Now, it is important to note that there are many who have no problem honoring Him with their lips by saying His name and acknowledging that He is the Son of God; this is true.  But the question is… where are their hearts?  The answer is, far from Him.  It is very obvious just by observing their actions.  So what about you?  Is your heart sold out and surrendered to Jesus?  Is He the most important thing to you?  Or are you mostly surrendered to the tangibles in your life (the world) – your family/kids, your house, your job, your bank account, and your possessions and pleasures?

Before I go any further, it is extremely important to ensure that you know How Jesus feels about you.  He is completely in love with you!  He loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3).  He created you in your mother’s womb, part by part, as He so desired, as you are His prize possession (Psalm 139:13).  He created you to lavish love upon you, to be with you, and to have you love and worship Him in return.  Everything was created through Him and for Him, and that includes every single one of us (Colossians 1:16).  He loves us with an agape love – He loved us first before we were even in existence (1John 4:19).  Have you ever pondered the thought that Jesus, God in the flesh, humbled Himself and came down from His throne in Heaven, where He was highly exalted in the midst of love, goodness, and beauty; became a human being, grew up facing every temptation known to man and remained perfectly sinless, and then sacrificed His perfect flesh to the point He was unrecognizable as a man and ultimately unto death – all to cover your sins?  Have you truly comprehended the humility and immense love that drove an all powerful and Almighty God to do this and suffer in such a way?   It was 100% all for us – for you!!  THAT is how much He loves us – more than our human minds can comprehend.

Having acknowledged this important point, we must know how He feels about those of us who have failed to give Him His rightful place in our hearts and lives.  He now sees many of us in a state of “self” that is purely sickening.  In Revelation 3:15-19 when Jesus addresses the Laodicean church (which is clearly us as the last church of the church age), He says, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot.  So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.  Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ – and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked…”  Later on in this same verse, He goes on to tell us to repent!  Do you see that we make Him literally ill, because we refuse to totally choose Him and surrender and live for Him?   We just can’t seem to give up our pleasures to wholeheartedly serve Him.  Isn’t it just terrible that we choose the things of the world over Him?!  Did you know that Jesus said in 1John 2:15 that if we love the things of the world then the love of the Father is not in us?!  Our behavior in this regard not only hurts Him deeply, but it makes Him literally want to spew us out of His mouth.  That should send shivers of fear down our spines and bring us to our knees in a never-ending state of repentance!!!

Jesus is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE (John 14:6); He is all.  Do you believe that it is only through His name that a man must be saved (Acts 4:12)?  Do you believe that very soon, He will rule and reign on this earth with ALL subject to Him (Hebrews 2:8)?  Do you believe that He is God (Titus 2:13)?  It is time to wake up and realize that it’s not all about us!!  Everything that is, that will be, that has happened, and that will happen is solely to recognize Him as King and Lord.  And remember one very profound truth…  One day, very soon, every single person will bow down to Him and confess that He is Lord -- every single person and thing ever created (Romans 14:11)!!  Do you know this Lord and King, Jesus?

The following scripture sums up my prayer for us all as well as the main message of this paper.  Read these words and ask Jesus to make Himself real to you – as God.  Ask Him to be YOUR Lord and King!!  He will answer!

Colossians 1:9-17

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.  He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

And one last very exciting note…  In the very end when Jesus comes back to earth to fight the final battle with satan and all His enemies, HE WINS!!  Revelation 19:15 says, “…And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron.  He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:  KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!!!”  To Jesus be all the praise, all the glory, and all the honor!  Amen and Amen!!!!
