Tompson, your posting of April 2 stated you
"hate it when people call Jesus that name...because that is what the demons
called him."
However, that specific identifying phrase, Jesus of
Nazareth, was also used by the apostles, the angels of God, and
our Lord (Acts 22:8: And He said to me, "I am Jesus of Nazareth whom you
are persecuting"). Please see the many examples listed below (taken from
NASB & NKJV).
- John 1:45
Philip found Nathanael and said to
him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets
wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." - Acts 10:38
"You know
of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit
and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were
oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
- Acts 26:9
"So then, I
thought to myself that I had to do many things hostile to the name of
Jesus of Nazareth. - Mark 16:6
But he said
to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was
crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid
Him.
- Luke 4:34
saying,
"Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth?
Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are-the Holy One of God!"
- Luke 18:37
So they
told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
- Luke 24:19
And He
said to them, "What things?" So they said to Him, "The things concerning
Jesus of Nazareth, who was a Prophet mighty in deed and word
before God and all the people,
- John 18:5
They
answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I
am He." And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.
- John 19:19
Now Pilate
wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was: JESUS OF
NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
- Acts 2:22
"Men of
Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by
God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your
midst, as you yourselves also know-
- Acts 3:6
Then Peter
said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."
- Acts 4:10
let it be
known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised
from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.
- Acts 6:14
for we have
heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this
place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us."
- Acts 10:38
how God
anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power,
who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for
God was with Him.
- Acts 22:8
So I
answered, 'Who are You, Lord?' And He said to me, 'I am Jesus of
Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.'
