"To Dru: Which day is
Firstfruits"
Dear Dru,
Thank you for your encouraging words regarding my
studies.... all glory to God!
You
asked me if I had the date of this years Firstfruits on my calendar,
and no I have no day mentioned on my website.. I guess I do not focus
on a "day" but the feast. As to which day? Well boy isn't that the
question! I will do my best to lay it out to you, and present why I
settle in with the below dates... which appear to me to be the most
Scripturally accurate, based on which day Firstfruits should
fall on
the Hebrew and the Gregorian calendar.
Passover: Eve April 19th ( Month 1 Day 14 , Lev. 23:5)
Feast of Firstfruits Falls on the day after the Sabbath, Lev 23:11
Which appear to be April 24
Here
is a link for the calendar I use, I have found this to be the most
accurate, in that they do not prefix the calendar dates as some Hebrew
calendars do ( I have found other Jewish calendar do not always
match
this calendar) I am very comfortable with the Karaite
Korner,
http://www.karaite-korner.org/holiday_dates.shtml
The Karaite calendar has Passover falling on the April 19th,
which
begins in the evening (sundown). The Feast of Firstfruits always fall
on the day after the Sabbath the Karaite Calendar has this date on out
Gregorian calendar for April 24. Lev. 23:11 And he shall
wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the
priest shall wave it.
Always follow the scripture of Firstfruits falling on the day
after the Sabbath, another words too, " the morrow after
the sabbath",
rather then the date of the 16,17, or 18 ( these dates can vary some,
and are not set as Passover is set with a fixed date. I have found that
I can never settle on a specific date for Firstfruits... Focus
on the Feast Day.... which is the day or morrow after the Sabbath,
this appears to be on April 24 for the Feast of Firstfruits.
Conservatively speaking, I would still begin the watch 3 days from
Passover -Month 1 Day 14th/ April 19th Eve, Why? because the pattern is
set for three days.. but he did rise from the grave on the Feast of
Firstfruits.. which was the day after the Sabbath. This year the
calendars do not line up with the 3 days from Passover, it has the
Feast of Firstfruits being about 5 days from Passover. So you see
it
is really hard to pick a particular day, so really no one will
technically know the day or the hour... but his coming is
appointed to
Month 1, and the patterns fits the Feast of Firstfruit!
The watch? My best is the 2nd or 3rd watch.. that is where there is a
blessing given. If
I were to pick a day I would say the day after the Sabbath, which is
April 24 in the 2nd or 3rd watch, where there is given a blessing for
those to watch at that hour.
But again, I will begin my watch personally, 3 days from Month 1 day
14.... which is Month 1 day 17/April 21 and 22...
Why I like the Karaite calendar:
The
Karaite bases the calendar on the ripening of the barley to determine
the new year, and then they set their calendar by the sighting of the
new moon in Jerusalem,
On their site they post on a Gregorian Calendar, so just count the
days from the sighting of the new moon to determine the Passover Month
1 Day 14, then to determine the Feast of Firstfruits by the day after
the Sabbath.
I see some calendars starting the Omer Count on April 19 or 20th... but
I am not going by those calendars... there are lots of "Jewish
calendars", many can vary by a number of days, and some start the Omer
count the day after Passover begins, Month 1 day 14.. so some have the
Omer count happening on Month 1 day 15, I am not comfortable with these
calendars.
His blessings to you Dru and to all!

Please
note, many of my studies have insights, I do not consider them
doctrine; in many of them I am asking the question, making
comparisons
and trying to put the pieces to the puzzle together. All my
studies
are based on scripture and patterns that have been established in his
word. I hope you are blessed.
