"Fruit on a plate...interpretation?"
Chris,
I had one of those spiritual checks inside when reading your closing
lines. Amos 5:18 is the scripture you are relaying, but when
taken in context, it is clear to the reader that Amos, the prophet of
the Lord, is talking to the mockers/scorners of his day. He was
admonishing them for their remarks about the Day of the Lord, as they
will not be finding it so agreeable once it arrives. He was not
talking about believers and the growing excitement we feel as we watch
the world events unfolding. After all, the Lord told us to
watch. Do you think He wanted us to be unmoved by what we
see? We are to be excited at His soon return for us, as well as
moved with compassion for those who are so desperately not ready.
Agape,
Julie
