Abbas rebuffs idea of 'Jewish state'
President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority
has said he refuses to recognize Israel as a Jewish state during a conference in
Ramallah yesterday. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu recently requested
that the Palestinian leadership recognize the state of Israel as the homeland of
the Jewish people, if progress is to be made on the idea of 'two states for two
peoples'. But President Abbas refused point-blank to recognize Israel as a
Jewish state, instead insisting that Israel withdraw from all territory captured
during the Six Day War.

Although the thought of bubonic plague seems extremely remote, it
isn't. A decade after Danny's deadly encounter, plague-infected animals could be
found in at least 40 percent of the continental United States, from the Pacific
eastward into Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas... The term plague comes from the Latin
plaga, meaning "to blow," or a blow at the hands of a god. The word is at once
frightening, disheartening and-in today's technological societies-so distant
from modern thought that it almost defies the prospect of
reality.

Swine Flu and the Pale Horse of the

For those familiar
with Bible prophecy, the sea of face-masked people in Mexico City and widespread
fear of a global flu pandemic brings to mind the image of the pale, or sickly,
horse of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, as described by the Apostle John
in the book of Revelation. The first three horsemen of the apocalypse symbolize
religious deception, war, and famine. Along with the fourth horseman,
pestilence, these riders represent the end-time culmination of the most
traumatic problems endured by a rebellious mankind. They picture one of the most
ominous scenarios ever.

South Korean experts claim to have cloned glowing dogs
<- Now, here's something to
aspire to... ha!
South Korean
scientists say they have engineered four beagles that glow red using cloning
techniques that could help develop cures for human diseases. The four dogs, all
named "Ruppy" — a combination of the words "ruby" and "puppy" — look like
typical beagles by daylight. But they glow red under ultraviolet light, and the
dogs' nails and abdomens, which have thin skins, look red even to the naked
eye.
