"RE: Kathleen Norton (27 Apr 2009) "the timing of the tribulation""

Welcome Kathleen to the Doves (Im fairly recent myself)

It is very good that you are researching, and studying the importance of the times, and the prophetic things our Lord wants us to.

I would just say this for your assessment of 70 years and 1948 and scripture.

Mat 24:32

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh:

Mat 24:33

So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors.

Mat 24:34

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

The Fig tree is not Israel… it is the Temple, Temple Rule, and Jerusalem (Seat of Temple rule).  We see this because Jesus cursed the fig tree and it withered, representing what would happen to the Temple in 70AD, and the Law as the means of righteousness.

If you notice as well, even though Israel has regained Jerusalem, the temple has not been rebuilt, and the Law that NEEDS the Temple for implementation of many rites hasn’t been rebuilt yet.

This is why Jesus said when it is YET tender… but NOT in bloom (Mat 24:32) ye know SUMMER is nigh.

Why is the season summer used here?  We know that the seasons are tied to the feasts, so this scripture represents that the time of Autumn (Fall Feasts) is coming, and this is the EVENT that designates Israel to prepare for it.

As for the length of the generation (you used 70 years)… when you look at 1918, there isn’t any signs or scripture that points to this year, and especially, the Jubilee and Sabbath year do not fall on 1918 to fulfill prophecy.

Keep up the good work!  And welcome to 5 Doves.
