Very interesting post Paul. Here is an excerpt from the site Paul referred to (Then I have a comment.):_________________________Reared on reality TV and celebrity makeovers, girls as young as Marleigh are using beauty products earlier, spending more and still feeling worse about themselves. Four years ago, a survey by the NPD Group showed that, on average, women began using beauty products at 17. Today, the average is 13—and that's got to be an overstatement. According to maarket-research firm Experian, 43 percent of 6- to 9-year-olds are already using lipstick or lip gloss; 38 percent use hairstyling products; and 12 percent use other cosmetics. And the level of interest is making the girls of "Toddlers & Tiaras" look ordinary. "My daughter is 8, and she's like, so into this stuff it's unbelievable," says Anna Solomon, a Brooklyn social worker. "From the clothes to the hair to the nails, school is like No. 10 on the list of priorities."Much has been made of the oversexualization of today's tweens. But what hasn't been discussed is what we might call their "diva-ization"—”before they even hit the tween years.______________________Years ago I was on my usual lunch break in a very small, conservative type town and these two young girls came walking (or should I say strutting) into the sandwich shop where I was waiting for a sandwich. They were dressed like something from MTV and were very out of place and ridiculous looking. Hair and makeup, short skirts, high heels, fishnet stockings, leopard print tight skimpy whatever, and jewelry and the whole works. I noticed that everybody was uncomfortable and heads were turning and whispers going but no one said anything really. I was very curious all the sudden to know what God thought about such girls and this sort of behavior and I decided to just ask Him His opinion of girls like these. He answered by impressing on me to read a certain chapter of scripture which just kept getting stronger as I waited for my sandwich until by the time I got back to my vehicle, I could hardly wait to get out my Bible and read this chapter. The chapter He gave me was Isaiah chapter 3. It speaks for itself although the old English words are hard to understand, the picture is never the less clear what God thinks about these girls.Isaiah 3:16. Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17. Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.
18. In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
19. The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20. The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21. The rings, and nose jewels,
22. The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23. The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
24. And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
25. Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
26. And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.
