"Anointed for Burial"

A great book that I cannot recommend more highly, even though it was written over 30 years ago, is "Anointed for Burial"  by Todd and DeAnn Burke.  It is the first hand account of two missionaries in Cambodia starting in the fall of 1973.  They spent the next 20 months there until they were forced to leave two weeks before the nation fell to the communist Khmer Rouge.

There are many eye-witness accounts that sound like something out of the book of Acts, how they had to deal with evil, adversity, and even Church discipline.  And through it all Jesus prevailed.

Many times we can get isolated from real world events and academically debate subjects back and forth.  However, when someone lives through those same subjects, the answers are no longer academic.  I've heard many people who thought they knew everything about the right way to raise kids, until they had kids of their own.  Life has a habit of changing what we think is true to what we find out is true.

Anyway.  The title for the book, "Anointed for Burial" comes from them anointing with oil someone who had died, for burial, and then that person coming back to life.  Remember what happens FIRST at the Rapture?

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  I Thessalonians 4:16

Looking Up!

(We have been warned again recently on Five Doves of a planned fake appearance of a Rapture where the Christians do not go up but visions of many others do go up.  Should this occur, we can hold fast to the promise that the elect, those elected to go in the Rapture, shall not be able to be deceived.)

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Matthew 24:24
