"Running over a squirrel on purpose"

Rick, I love your examples of sins which various of us Christians may
do in just one day.  I love the example of the Brother-in-Christ who
might run over a squirrel on purpose, that being perhaps equal to
another Brother telling his wife a falsehood, casting his eyes twice on
a bikini-clad maiden, and stealing a candy bar.

Yes! How easy is it for the "Old Man", the "Adam" in us to break out in
a sudden act of cruelty, such as running over a squirrel on purpose.

Now this is not to indicate that I personally have ever run over a
squirrel, either on purpose or otherwise.  But I have burst out
suddenly with harsh words, in impatience and frustration, and have done
other sudden sins which seemed to come out of nowhere.  No, not
stealing a candy bar, at least not recently;  I did that when I was a
young teacher in Santa Cruz--just impelled to snatch that candy bar!
Where did such a thought come from, as I earned enough money to buy the
candy bar?  One can only think back in amazement.  It was just anger
and frustration which made me do this, wanting to make a statement,
perhaps to God who was watching, that all was not well in my life.  He
must have heard my cry, as eventually he brought me to a place of
grace.

Ain't grace wonderful?
