I have always been very curious about something. I have contemplated it very thoroughly and have come to a conclusion in my mind about how it has to be understood. Its a very profound aspect of God and His creation of Man, and has been the subject of debate ever since man began to philosophize. What I am referring to is the "God's Omniscience vs Man's Free Will" controversy. Some of you are rolling your eyes and saying, "Oh no, not another debate!!" That's OK, anyone who doesn't want to respond doesn't have to. Nor do they have to read the responses. Actually, if the majority of you feel that you would prefer that discussions of this sort be kept out of this forum, then I am OK with that. Or, if John, the moderator, wishes to not permit any further theological debates, thats fine too. Although I am against censorship of any sort, its not my website and I don't make the rules. I understand that the main pupose of this site is for those who are anticipating the soon return of Jesus to have a place to fellowship. I think that's wonderful, and can limit myself to this subject matter if need be. There are, I'm sure, other sites that are for the purpose of Theological debate. I just happen to enjoy constructive discussions of controversial issues, and think they are healthy for the Christian mind and spirit. As I have said before, there can be only one Truth. And I have to believe that its better that Christians come together in all humbleness to rid the Body of erroneous beliefs than it is to just agree to disagree as if the Truth doesn't really matter, and as if we don't care if our fellow-believers believe the Truth ot not. Some feel that certain theological issues are unimportant and/or a discussion of them is unproductive. My response to this is the question of "Can there be anything pertaining to God and His Truth that is unimportant and not worth discussing?"Although I encourage anyone and everyone to continually exercise their brains and minds in quest for the Truth of our infinite God, I understand that most people simply don't want to. And I am obligated to respect people's decisions even if I feel they are deciding wrongly. As most of you have noticed, I have a very "politically incorrect" way of presenting my side of an arguement. I don't do personal attacks and am not intentionally insulting, but I am very direct and forceful. John, our moderator, has chosen several times to edit or simply not post some of my letters. I, of course, would prefer that he didn't, but like I said, its his site and he has a right to do whatever he wants with it. The letters he editted or didn't post were criticisms of the way some Christians think and decide what to believe. And the reason he editted them or didn't post them was because he felt that some readers would find them insulting. And he's correct. Its not my intention to insult anyone....rather it is my intention to wake people up to the curse of denominational tradition and the fact that Christians are and have always been hijacked by religion. But unfortunately, some people are unable to deal with criticism. And I'm pretty sure that's why John doesn't post some of my letters. Also, some of what I say may be a little sarcastic. I have always found that sarcasm is an effective intelligence tool as long as the person using it can handle it being used on them.I would encourage John to post every letter responding to what I say, but only if he allows all of my responses to be posted also. But like I said, not everyone can keep their emotions out of discussions on controversial issues. So therefore he sees the need to moderate. I can respect that.Getting back to my question: Do you believe in the omniscience of God, and do you believe in the free will of man? Or would you rather not comment and just wait for the Rapture.....which may happen before this can even be posted!!
