"Not me"

Hi all,

There sure has been a lot of discussion about the ten virgins of Matthew 25.  It looks like most everyone is saying the same thing, that we want to be among the five wise virgins.

I have always had a problem with that concept because, as far as I'm concerned, none of the ten virgins is the bride of Christ, and isn't it the BRIDE of Christ that we desire to be?  For me, being one of the ten virgins (what today we would call bridesmaids) is not what it's all about.  I want to be part of the bride of Christ.

Do the five wise virgins go in to the wedding feast ahead of the groom?  No.  He's already in there.
Do any of the five wise virgins marry the bridegroom?  No.  He is marrying His bride, not her friends.
The bride wasn't asleep when the bridegroom came to her father's home, but all ten virgins were.

Certainly, being one of the five wise virgins is better than being one of the five foolish virgins, but my desire is to be among those who are the bride of Christ.  I want to be in the wedding ballroom when my friends, the five wise virgins arrive.

See ya here, there or in the air
