Hi, precious Doves!Would you please pray for this man, his wife, and their family? This is SO sad! Here's what my cousin, Harry, had to say about it:Dear Peggy. I want you to read this email from an old Coast Guard buddy of mine. He now lives in Las Vegas as I do. His name is Gil Shaw and he is Jewish. Could you please dig into your knowledge of Jewish good wishes and prayers for his wife Natalie to get through the ordeal she's going through? I have never met his wife, but I know how he feels because I went through the same hard times with my wife, June. It was the prayers of our friends and relatives that brought her through three bouts with cancer. HarryDate: 4/28/08

For: His wife, Natalie, and their family
Nature: (Gil’s words) It is about 9:05 PM as I write this and within a half hour Nat will be transferred to Nathan Adleson Hospice - the best in Southern Nevada. All four of the kids agreed that it was in Natalie's best interest to restrict care to making her painless and comfortable. The brain swelling has increased 10% in spite of the steroids and the ant-seizure medicines (4 of them) were not needed if the steroids were discontinued. The decisions were all guided by medical personnel, but made by the five of us. The reaction was startling. She had been asleep with an occasional flutter of the eyes. Now she is talking , joking and laughing. Of course a good percentage of the time we don't know what she is saying or why the laughter, but is good to hear her act and react. She has had a feeding tube inserted for the past couple of weeks, and as soon as it came out, she wanted to eat a Jewish fish dish. She wanted it NOW!! Her son-in-law was called and said he would get it there very soon. Not fast enough for Nat, so she asked her wonderful Pakistani Muslim doctor if he would go out and get it. He said yes, but our son in law got there about that time. She had a "bite" about a quarter the size of a small child's small fingernail and decided she really did not want it. She did well with a small container of applesauce. She loves when one of us makes a mistake, so she can laugh her hearty chortle. All we want for her is to make her last days comfortable and painless. She still does not want visitors because of the chunks of hair missing and not wearing her teeth. Thank to all of you for caring, and that's from me; Jeff and Natina; Steve; Robin and her Jeff and Caryl.
