""Debate" of the 10 Virgins--Who are they???"

Hi John,

I agree with your thinking. I am not a part of either of the two groups, and I have a totally different opinion, hopefully one that would unite us.

I feel that the Church (the Virgin Bride of Christ) as a whole, is representative of the five wise virgins who left with the Bridegroom when He came.  They had the annointing oil of the Holy Spirit to light their way, going out to meet Him.

And, I feel Israel as a whole (the adultrous wife of Jehovah) is representative of the five foolish virgins who didn't have the oil of the Holy Spirit to light their way when the Messiah came, so they missed the wedding, and found the door shut.  They had rejected Him, so He said He didn't know them.

All ten were considered virgins because they had committed to marry Him (betrothal/salvation), thus considered a marriage by Jewish tradition. The Church was watching for Him, and went into the marriage, while Israel knew not the time of Her visitation.  "The first will be last, and the last will be first." But knowing that God intends for a believing remnant of Israel to still fulfill her destiny, once she finally sees her Messiah, repents and acknowledges Him, He will take her back into covenant.  Yes, she missed the wedding, and her wedding cup of wine will not be so sweet, but she then becomes the restored wife.
