"Epidemic violence"
Dear friends:
According to http://icasualties.org/oif/, the average number of daily
U.S. deaths in all of Iraq during March 2008 was 1.29. Saying it another
way, that is an average of 1.29 per day.
It is terrible to lose
any American soldier, but at least their sacrifice is fighting terrorism,
Islamic jihad, and in honorable service to their country.
But for proper
perspective, compare that 1.29 number to the below...
According to
the news from Chicago, day before yesterday 5 people were shot dead in
just one afternoon. Also, "Between Friday night and early Monday morning,
36 people were shot in Chicago, nine fatally, and two people were
stabbed. See http://cbs2chicago.com/local/south.side.shooting.2.706944.html
That's
in just one American city!
The Bible says that in the days of Noah,
"the earth was filled with violence" (Genesis 6:11). That is surely true in our
day when we are living "as in the days of Noah."
Ironically, most of
the the violence is not taking place in the war zone, but at home in our cities
by a population where many have gone mad. There is a spirit of murder loose in
our cities and in the world.
Have you seen the video of the little
hate-filled girl, about 10 years old, threatening President Bush with death,
using extremely vile language. But the language is very bad so do not go
there if you have sensitive ears. It is at http://michellemalkin.com/2008/04/21/the-littlest-bush-hater/.
She was no doubt mimicking her parents or relatives. God help
us.
