"Update on faith of the Presidential candidates"
Dear friends:
The below are from today's news items on the three major Presidential candidates and matters concerning their faith:
JOHN MCCAIN. The Washington Times reports:
"It is to John McCain's credit that he is not using his faith as a political tool," said Republican strategist Cheri Jacobus. "However, at some point in the general election when voters are taking a renewed and closer look at the candidates, he should feel comfortable talking about his journey in faith from his days in Hanoi and what role it played in shaping the man he is today."
Some facts are known about Mr. McCain's churchgoing. He has attended the Southern Baptist Convention-affiliated North Phoenix Baptist Church with his family for about 15 years. The 7,000-member church with an active radio ministry is led by the Rev. Dan Yeary, 69, who is described as "folksy and patriotic" and who came to his Arizona congregation after a stint at University Baptist Church in Coral Gables, Fla.
See McCain's church Web site at http://www.npbc.org/ . Rev. Dan Yeary believes that abortion and homosexuality are sins.
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA. The York Daily Record reports:
The York Daily Record recently interviewed democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Among the questions they asked was, "York County was recently in the news for a lawsuit involving the teaching of intelligent design. What's your attitude regarding the teaching of evolution in public schools?"
Obama's response: "I'm a Christian, and I believe in parents being able to provide children with religious instruction without interference from the state. But I also believe our schools are there to teach worldly knowledge and science. I believe in evolution, and I believe there's a difference between science and faith. That doesn't make faith any less important than science. It just means they're two different things. And I think it's a mistake to try to cloud the teaching of science with theories that frankly don't hold up to scientific inquiry."
(Obama obviously does not believe in intelligent design or the biblical account of creation, does not believe that evolution is only a theory, but believes that God's intelligent design is only a theory and not worthy to be taught!)
Asked whether life begins at conception, Obama said he didn't know the answer, said an Associated Press report. "That is something I have not, I think, come to a firm resolution on." (But in spite of not knowing, his philosophy is to go ahead and kill the kid anyhow, even during the birthing process.)
Obama supports the homosexual agenda. See http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=61253 .
There are still unresolved questions about Obama's Muslim childhood and whether or not there is remaining loyalty to Islam. See http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=60441 .
HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON. The Associated Press reports:
When asked when life begins, Clinton said, "I believe the potential for life begins at conception. For me, it is not only about a potential life. It is about the other lives involved." (Typical feminist response. In other words, it's okay to kill the kid if the mother is inconvenienced, the feminist mantra.)
