Joe,If the Lord actually gave us the price of grains as an indicator of the Trib then it is, what it is (there would be no reason for an inflation adjustment). Why would He inform us of the actual price if it was not important/I think you are on to something! If the Revelation measure of Wheat for a penny is worth $41.80 per bushel in modern terms my question is what is it going for right now?If it is currently close to the $41.80 per bushel, then this is an indicator that the Trib is almost here (which Lord willing, means the Rapture is too)!YSIC,GinaHello,
I trade in the commodities markets.
My preference is the grain marks primarily and the livestock markets secondarily.
I used to love trading, and once had a keen interest in those markets.
But I no longer love it, nor do I have the passion for it that I once had.
I still do have an interest in it, but the real keen interest is gone.
But I still do the daily work required to keep up with things.
Now it's more about economic and financial necessity; but I still like it.
Markets like the three Wheat markets; as well Corn, Oats, Rice, Barley, Soybeans, Soybean meal, and Soybean Oil, along with Canola,
Just the same, I do have a keen interest in the global grain shortage that's shaping up, and is under way, as has been discussed by others around here.
This is Biblical, and it's prophetic; and it's the Book of Revelation starting to take place before our eyes, and it will be affecting all of us shortly--everywhere.
So it no accident that Revelation 6:6 would be my chief tribulation sign.
It's found within the Third Seal, and the Black Horse of death is riding within it.
<<<<< 6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. >>>>>
Now here is where it gets interesting.
My old Bible has some excellent foot notes and commentary.
According to the footnotes, the Revelation measure of Wheat for a penny is worth $41.80 per bushel in modern terms.
While three measures of Barley would be worth $32.50 per bushel by the same terms.
(The reason for the differences in price and measure is because it takes more Barley kernels to make up a bushel, than it does for Wheat kernels)
My Bible's copyright was 1975.
So I have wondered if the footnote prices is a fixed stationary price, that is worth the same now, as it was back in 1974-75.....or, are those prices adjusted for inflation?
If by chance the 41.80 Wheat and 32.50 Barley is actually inflation adjusted, that would be an inflation rate rise of at least 324.50% between 1974 and the 1st quarter of 2008.
That would then put Wheat right at $182.80 per bushel, and Barley right at $142.15 per bushel.
At those prices, our bread buying days would be pretty much over for sure.
Regardless, most everyone knows that the grains have had the biggest historic run-up in prices in World history, and the Corn market is currently still pushing up it's historic price level, as is Rice I believe.
One of the three Wheat markets (Hard Spring) soared above $22.00 per bushel, before all three pulled back to lower levels where they appear temporarily stabilized.
So what does the future hold from here?
Nothing but bad and worse news per Revelation.
Pundits are speculating that Wheat prices will go to $50.00 per bushel within 18 to 24 months.
If that $41.80 Wheat price per bushel is stationary, and if we are still around when that event happens, then we can pretty much say for a certainty that we are in the Tribulation period.
No one will be able to dress things up any other way, and at that point the pre-trib doctrine can be said to be more or less moot--and false.
By the way, a bushel of Barley as of today is only going for $4.70-.75 per bushel, which is up again, about 0.50 cents higher since yesterday.
Which, while still high by historic standards, is still nowhere near the $32.50 per bushel called for in Revelation; but Barley is still currently moving higher in tandem with Corn, and it will get there; simply because the Bible says that it will.
We'll see in the weeks and months ahead how things will shake out.
Hang on tight.
