"The prideful will not be ready."
It's funny how things get turned upside
down. A good lawyer is an expert at making someone who is guilty look
like someone who is innocent by how clever he is with words.
The
bible says that the humble will inherit the kingdom of God. It also
says that he resists the proud. The proud thought and think they are
right with God but God always exposes their hearts. It always had to do
with what was in the heart.
We have gone over many many
scriptures here re warnings from Jesus and the apostles that were
addressed to his people, Christians. They warned us to be ready. But we
have many today say that we who point to these scriptures are
legalistic and prideful. So who is being prideful?
If I
resist the instruction of the Holy Spirit I am prideful. If I say I do
not need to be prepared or ready when the scripture clearly says I
should, I am prideful. I do not want to be pounding on the door. I want
to humble myself now and not resist the calling of the Holy Spirit. If
someone wants to call me and others prideful and legalistic so be it. I
know that is part of the deal in being a Christian, dealing with
opposition the way Jesus asked us to is a given.
