I am not arguing for emersion baptism, although I think it is the best. It's a matter of heart issue. If your leadership is compromised that does not effect you in your relationship with Jesus. They are responsible and accountable to Him for their actions.
 
We have to do our best to follow what Jesus says and can not use our leadership as an excuse for our behavior. If we have the understanding that we are not in a good situation we should not feel obligated to follow bad leadership.
