Laurie,
you are right about a spirit and soul salvation, but there is also the
salvation of the body. We are a three-part being: body, soul, and
spirit, just as God also is a trinity. The whole process of salvation,
the three parts, is given to us in the three main Feasts of the Lord.
There
is the Passover experience, in which we are justified, and our
spirits are sealed with the blood of Jesus, just as the Israelites were
sealed with the blood of the passover lamb. This is something that can
never be lost. This is what we call the salvation of the spirit. This
is done by the work of the Holy Spirit, not of ourselves.
But
the Israelites did not stop at Passover, and neither do we. We are to
move on to the Pentecost experience, just as they did. This is where we
obtain salvation of our souls, and we become reconciled to God. This
reconciliation experience is when two enemies become reconciled
to one another, or they are of one accord. This is something that we
must work out, and comes with a deeper, willing walk of obedience that
comes from hearing the voice of the Lord, and obeying out of love. Some
Christians are content to stop here, and not move on to hear the voice
of the Lord for themselves, just as the Israelites preferred that Moses
go up Mt Sinai and hear the voice of God and then tell them what He
said.
Then there is the ulitmate Tabernacles experience,
which we have not arrived at yet. This will be the salvation of the
body, whether we are alive and remain, or whether one has already died
in Christ and that body will be resurrected. Not all the Israelites
crossed over into the promised land, and not all will experience the
glorification of their mortal body. This is only for the
overcomers, the bride, and is to which Paul referred in his writings as
looking for the prize or reward at the end of the race.
This
is a very simple explanation, and for lack of time and space, if there
are those who wish to read more, please send me an email at the address
