"Interpreting Dreams..."

Doves,

We all have dreams.  But perhaps the question is, how do you interpret dreams, or should you?

I have dreams every night, but when the dream is from the Lord, there seems to be something special about it.

I have had dreams of being raptured, or going to heaven, but in honesty, I have to say those would be dreams of “hope” and comfort more than a prophetic dream.

I recently had a dream in which the only thing that I even remember from it was the scripture reference I saw.  I looked it up:

1Ki 4:17   Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

Now, if you are like me, you would almost immediately think “crazy dream”, “makes no sense”.

Prophetic dreams bridge the connection between otherwise unrelated ideas or thoughts.  When I interpret a dream, it is usually because I have already been hearing or seeing something similar in my spirit, and the dream resonates with it.  Sometimes, I don’t immediately have the interpretation, but over the next several days, events will play out that provide the keys to understand it.

It might be that I happen to turn on the radio and hear the words, “7:07pm is the official start of spring”.  But all that previous week, I have heard “New Season”.  So now when I had previously seen “707” and thought something peculiar about it, now I know why.  It was gleaming with “new season”.

Rarely in interpretation is guesswork.  You either know, or you don’t.

The above scripture may not make any sense.  But it just so happened that I had been reading about the mandrakes earlier.  As you know, Issachar was conceived because Rachel bought the mandrakes from Leah.

It just so happened that I had noticed that the anniversary of that event was listed on a Hebrew calendar on 5/22/2007.

It just so happened to fall on the 3rd month after 2/22/2007 which in previous posts has been mentioned.

It just so happens that the sons of Issachar being mentioned have insight into the times:

1Ch 12:32   And of the children of Issachar, [which were men] that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them [were] two hundred; and all their brethren [were] at their commandment.

Now Jehoshaphat mentioned in 1 Kings 4:17 is nowhere else mentioned.  However, another Jehoshaphat was a King of Judah.  The father has the name of Paruah meaning “sprout, blossom”.

There is an interesting interchange between Jehoshaphat and “the King of Israel”.  I noticed that nowhere does it mention who the King of Israel at the time until after he is dead.  It was Ahab.  (That just smells peculiar).

1Ki 22:2   And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel

1Ki 22:4   And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Wilt thou go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I [am] as thou [art], my people as thy people, my horses as thy horses

At one point in the story, Jehoshaphat “switched places” with the king of Israel.  The king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

Now I am not sure where I am going with this because I am still puzzled by it.  There is something there, but I can’t put my finger on it.  I see something, but I can’t make it out what I am seeing because it is not clear to me.  Rather than be unwise and speak foolishly of what I don’t know and what I don’t understand, I will be “wise” and shut up.

I have interpreted dreams here on Five Doves.  I have also seen some of the best “prophets” badly misinterpret their own prophetic visions.  I am sure I am not always the best interpreter especially if I am “guessing”.  If I am “guessing”, hopefully I am honest about it.  Sometimes, I KNOW exactly what the dream means without question because I had already had a witness in my spirit or something I have pondered on and the dream unlocks the mystery by connecting the otherwise unrelated thoughts together.

If I dreamed of a bald monkey carrying two suitcases tied together through a field, the interpretation would be purely a guess.  However, if I so happened to be getting my hair cut, and I saw one of the old Samsonite luggage commercials (do you all remember the ones with the monkeys???), then I happen to turn on the radio and hear a sermon about Philistines, then the interpretation has been provided for me.  The prophetic picture points to Samson who tied the fox tails together and set the fields on fire.  That was not a real dream, but that is how interpretation comes to me.  That is how I understand dreams.  I may already have the understanding, and see the truth reflected in the dream.  Sometimes it may take years to have the keys to unlock the dream.

I hope this helps,
