"Day of Trumpets just a few?"

In 2001 on October 8, I woke up and heard"October 8 is the Day of Trumpets". The strange thing is that I didn't know what the Day of Trumpets was.  I had to look it up on the internet.  I have never understood what that could mean because the Day of Trumpets is considered Rosh HaShana and there is no way I can figure that Oct. 8 could be the Day of Trumpets because the new year always falls on a new moon.  Rosh Hashanah cannot occur later than October 5.  So, is it off because of the calendar change?

I know I must be missing something so if anyone else has insight to this, that would be appreciated.  Since He says let no "idle" (unprofitable) words come out of your mouth, this must be important because He surely wouldn't go against His own Word.

From Wikipedia:
The Feast of Trumpets a holiday observed by Christians who are focused on the Seven Feasts of Israel. Members of the Seventh Day Church of God groups, especially those who claim association with Herbert Armstrong observe the day. It coincides with the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah and is believed by most observers to have Christian applications. Evangelical Christians are also interested in the Feast of Trumpets. Some view its fulfilment as a key waypoint into the End times. They believe that this epic future "Day of the blowing of the shofar" will be a landmark day in history.

The Bible refers to the day as "The Day of the Blowing of the Shofar" (Yom Terua, Leviticus 23:24), and rabbinic literature and the liturgy itself describe Rosh Hashanah as "The Day of Judgment" (Yom ha-Din) and "The Day of Remembrance" (Yom ha-Zikkaron). Some midrashic descriptions depict God as sitting upon a throne, while books containing the deeds of all humanity are opened for review, and each person passing in front of Him for evaluation of his or her deeds. A shofar is normally a trumpet made from a ram's or goat's horn.

The Ten Days of Repentance, beginning with Rosh Hashanah and ending with the holiday of Yom Kippur.

I also an not sure what the Lord is trying to say:  the Day of Trumpets?  we shall all be changed at the last trump?  I don't know.  Help me please understand.

1 Cor 15:42-16:24
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

By the way, I too am like so many others and "I don't care" about the things this world has to offer anymore.  All I care about is serving Him.  I can't even find a church because they are still so into the things of this world.   Prosperity, etc., etc.  Now I go to a Shabbat on Friday nights and have praise and worship and prayer.  There are very few at this meeting but it is so anointed.  It just takes a few!
