"Virginia Tech Massacre"

John and Doves,

I have watched the aftermath panout and have a couple of questions.

1. If the said troubled young Korean man was sent to a mental institution in 2005 then a) What treatment did he receive? b) How long was he there for? c) Who treated him? d) Can we see the records of this treatment?

2. If the said troubled young Korean man was sent to a mental institution in 2005 then how on earth could he legally obtain any firearm as he apparently did or be allowed to keep any firearms he may already have in his possession?

3. When did he actually buy his firearms?

4. Where did this said troubled young Korean man obtain the chains to secure the doors to the classrooms?

5. If the perpetrator of America's worst killing wanted to get away with it without too much trouble would he not choose a college where the students are legally not allowed to carry a gun?

Joe Vialls and others poured scorn on the suggestion that a mentally challenged Martin Bryant had the skills to kill so many people at Port Arthur in Tasmania on 4/28/1996. Joe claimed that Bryant was set up as a patsy and that a highly skilled military trained marksman shooting from the hip was the real culprit. There may be some who question this but I would suggest they read the evidence.
Here are a few facts though.
1. The shooter killed his first 12 victims (in The Broad Arrow Cafe) in 15 seconds. That is one every 1.25 secs with a shot to the head fired from the hip at an average distance of 12 feet.
2. After 90 secs in the cafe he had killed 20.
3. Total casualties in the Cafe - 20 dead and 12 injured. A ratio of 1.66 to 1. Normally, for an untrined shooter it would be 1 to 5 or 1 to 7.
4. Total casualties overall were 35 dead and 22 injured giving a ratio of 1.60 to 1.

Here at Virginia Tech we have 33 dead and 30 injured giving a ratio of 1.1 to 1, somewhat similar to  Port Arthur. Normally you would expect around 33 x 5 = 165 minimum injured. Unless you are a highly skilled marksman. (There may have been more injured but this was the highest figure I could find. Some reports said only 15 were injured. I am talking of injuries from bullets here and not those suffered from jumping out of windows.)

Just my twopenneth on this dreadful event.

My prayers are with those who lost loved ones and those who are injured and their loved ones.

Blessings,

Phil.
