Rene,The earthquakes were in the Solomon Islands and are still continuing. The original 8.1 earthquakes caused a tsunami in the Solomons and there is wide-spread damage and lost of life.

Yes, there were tsunami warnings for Eastern Australia, especially north eastern coast, but thank God, nothing happened except that the tides were a little higher than normal. There closed the beaches up and down the coast and stopped the ferries running in Sydney Harbour and ships were told to go out further to sea.
