John,
Just as I pressed "send" on my post, I returned to my Inbox and found this update on Gabe. It is from Gabe's Dad. His last sentence is profound and matches just what we need: "When current circumstances don't match the future promises of God, the only thing one has available is the choice of whether or not to trust." Please stand with this suffering family in believing for Gabe's new body!

Well, we were just notified that a culture done from a blood draw on Wed. came back positive for some sort of infection. So, it means another weekend at the hospital.
Yesterday Lisa and I were talking about the way this experience has changed us. People who go through something like this develop a "heaviness" that stays for years, and they are never quite the same. Sometimes it is really hard to relate to certain people, because often what they talk about seems so insignificant. We are thankful to have a number of friends that have been a treasure to us as they have lovingly supported us.
Today as a family we read the story of Abraham and Isaac--the one where Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. That is the absolute trust that I aspire to. When current circumstances don't match the future promises of God, the only thing one has available is the choice of whether or not to trust.
