There is controversy now in that some U.S. cities are declaring themselves
to be "sanctuary cities" for illegal immigrants, saying they will not
cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

The other day comedian Jay Leno quipped:

"In a speech Sunday, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome said that he is
going to make San Francisco a sanctuary for illegal immigrants so they can
go there and not worry about being deported to their home country of Los
Angeles."
