"The blessing of electromagnetism"
Dear friends:
Electromagnetism is also a great blessing! It is only through the phenomenon
of electromagnetism that we are able to saturate the world with the gospel,
24/7, via radio and television. It has become a vital part of the Great
Commission, powerful beyond the wildest imaginations of people just a few decades
ago.
Of course, the evil of electromagnetism may be an inference in Ephesians 2:2,
referring to "the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now
worketh in the children of disobedience." We have surely seen
much evil from it with wicked electronic images saturating the world.
But the good of electromagnetism may be seen in prophetic passages such as in
Isaiah 11:9: "The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD,
as the waters cover the sea. " This may at least be partial reference
to the many radio and TV outreaches via satellite and shortwave that are beaming
the gospel to every corner of the earth, filling it with the knowledge of the
LORD.
Therefore, TV and radio through electromagnetism, even with its possible human
hazards, is apparently God's provision to help fulfill the Great Commission,
for which we should be grateful.
Just be cautious if you are near a transmitter. Over 30 years ago I worked
with Air Force radar technicians who thought nothing of walking in front of
a super high-powered antenna. It's a wonder their bodies did not light
up like a neon bulb. Their cells probably did. I cringed when I
saw it then and cringe more today just thinking about it. I hope those
brave and sometimes foolish guys are still alive.
