Seize the Moment for Peace, Merkel Urges Middle East

“...Current EU president German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday urged Middle East states to seize the moment and revive the stalled peace process as she met Israeli and Palestinian leaders.

"We are going through a period where we feel that things are moving," Merkel said in a speech at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where she received an honorary doctorate.

"There is a window of opportunity... The Arab world is ready to talk about the Mideast conflict and its solutions. There is a real chance of reaching a breakthrough and we must grasp it," she said, according to the Hebrew translation of her remarks in German....”

After Talks With Merkel, Olmert Ready to Meet Arab Leaders

After a meeting with German Chancellor Merkel, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he is ready to attend a summit with Arab leaders to discuss a Saudi-drafted peace plan.

"I am announcing to the heads of the Arab states on this occasion that if the Saudi king initiates a meeting of moderate Arab states and invites me and the head of the Palestinian Authority in order to present us the Saudi ideas, we will come to hear them and we will be glad to voice ours," Olmert said.

"I invite all the heads of the Arab states, including of course the Saudi king whom I consider a very important leader, to hold talks with us," he told a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Jerusalem.

"A push to the diplomatic process"

Merkel presses both sides to sit at table...

RE: Vision

this was in the news a few weeks ago February 5, 2007:

A vision for resolving the Middle East conflict

“  Speaking at a press conference in Abu Dhabi, Chancellor Angela Merkel cited the division of Europe as an example meant to encourage the Arab countries to persist in their peace efforts. She drew parallels between the process of European unification and the Middle East peace process. In this context she expressed her support of a two-state solution.

"I have already seen one wall come down," Merkel noted. "You need to believe in your vision," she added in reference to her own past in which she experienced the collapse of communism, the reunification of Germany, as well as a gradual rise to the office Chancellor and now President of the European Council....”

Vision! Remember the “Visions” spoken in the Books of Daniel (Daniel 8) and so on...

Dan 8:1 In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, [even unto] me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.

Dan 8:2 And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I [was] at Shushan [in] the palace, which [is] in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.

Dan 8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

Dan 8:15 And it came to pass, when I, [even] I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

Dan 8:16 And I heard a man's voice between [the banks of] Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this [man] to understand the vision.

Dan 8:17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end [shall be] the vision.

Dan 8:26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told [is] true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it [shall be] for many days.

Dan 8:27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick [certain] days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood [it].
