It is very interesting that I just read the chapter of 1 Kings 22 two nights ago. I have been studying the life of Elijah for some time now and the Lord is still showing me things about him. The king of Israel who was with Jehoshaphat in the battle against the Syrians was Ahab. Samaria was the capital of Israel in those days, and this chapter is after the incident where Elijah had the showdown with the false prophets of Baal. Ahab hated Elijah because he never had anything good to say for him from the Lord, but always prophesied judgement upon him and his sons.Ahab died in battle as described in 1 Kings 22, as he was the king of Israel who disguised himself for battle, and his blood was licked up by the dogs as it dripped from the chariot, fulfilling the prophecy exactly as Elijah had said earlier in 1 Kings 21:17-19:"And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it. And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine."Ahab had coveted the vineyard of Naboth, a righteous man who had not bowed to Baal, and because Naboth had refused to give it to him, Ahab was sulking many days in the palace in Samaria. His wicked wife Jezebel devised a plot in which Naboth and his sons were killed so that Ahab could possess the vineyard. The Lord then sent Elijah to Ahab with the words spoken above. For Jezebel's part in this wickedness the Lord had a prophecy for her too, continuing in 1 Kings 21: 23-25:"And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat. But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up."2 Kings 9:10 repeats the prophecy:"And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled."
This prophecy was later fulfilled and recorded in 2 Kings 9: 30-37 as Jehu entered Samaria:"And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master? And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs. And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot. And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king's daughter. And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel: And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel."Before the battle the kings sought to hear from the prophets, who spoke lies as the Lord sent a lying spirit to speak to them of victory over the king of Syria. Much of these passages are confusing as to who is king and over which country, but if one reads many chapters together it all makes sense. Basically what is being told us that because the kings of Israel were so wicked and turned to false gods the people of the land followed their wicked example and the Lord removed His hand from them. The Lord used other nations to bring judgement upon Israel and He has foretold in His Word that in the end times He will use these same enemies of Israel once again to bring judgement upon His people, who have turned from following Him to go whoring after false gods. The Lord has allowed the false prophets of our day to mislead the people, of which Pastor Riley wrote an excellent article:Israel is not the only people chosen by the Lord, but we as Christians are also. Many who call themselves by His name have followed false prophets and completely rejected the truth of the Word of God. The USA is not mentioned by name in the Bible, but is referred to nonetheless, and those who have eyes to see and ears to hear the true prophets of God will recognize the judgement that is prophesied to come upon her, ironically to be meted out by the very same enemies of Israel in the days of their own wicked rulers. Both Israel and the USA are ruled by wicked men and judgement will be forthcoming upon them both. Some of you will be offended by the words I speak, but the truth offends.Perhaps the dream Wade had was a warning to God's people to wake up and see that the rulers, who are following the false prophets of today, are leading God's people to follow after false gods, and that because of this evil, judgement is coming upon them very soon. After all, judgement begins at the house of God. We can expect to see much more judgement and bloodshed in the days ahead. Yesterday's tragic event of bloodshed, with the number 33 associated with it, is only a harbinger of what is to come. Let him who has eyes to see and ears to hear be blessed.
