Dear Bruce and all prayer chains,
Thank you for your prayers!! I have much less stress over this neck issue than I did a few days ago. I did have to go to the ER because my arms and legs started tingling signifcantly. They moved up my CT scan and decided to scan the whole spine. I saw another neurosurgeon today--one that is very familiar with my vascular malformation (not the problem but right near where the spinal fusion would be). He did NOT think that I was in a lot of danger--some increased risk of paralysis, but not very much. The tingling is happening most of the time and it seems to coorelate with the MRI. This doctor says that the surgery would NOT be that risky and that he did not believe that the malformation would pose added risk--but sometimes God uses doctors--if a person has a bone that is broken and hanging--most Christians will fix it surgically. The same is with my neck--while it is not "broken" --It is a matter of a few bones that need to be fused together. That is a big surgery--but not so big that it cannot be handled. Sometimes it takes more faith to trust that one can glorify God no matter what the circumstances. I do not believe that I will be a quadriplegic--that is the blessing. The Lord did allow a quadriplegic woman to be in my pathway two times immediately after I prayed about His grace--I do believe, now, that He was allowing me to see His grace manifested in my life--saying that I WON'T be paralysed. At this point, the symptoms have not ceased, but my attitude is so much better. I will wait on the Lord and see Him direct me through this time. I will listen to the Lord, as well as a few of the very dignified doctors that I have met. I am not one who is generally fond of doctors, but the ones that I am dealing with are of high reputation and I respect them. Once again, thank you so much for your prayers--I will keep you posted as things move along--In His Grace, Barbara
