Truth and Fiction in the Da Vinci Code by Bart D Ehrman is very thorough.  Here are two facts I learned from his book:
 
1.  There is almost no information on Mary Magdalene.
 
2.  The gospels that were not included in the Bible show a  Jesus who was more supernatural, rather than more human as The Da Vinci Code claims.
