This morning, something in Matthew 24 jumped out at me and gave me pause. We are all familiar with this confidential meeting between Jesus and his
disciples about when the end will be, but there is a comment on Jesus's
part that, I believe, is of particular significance in the near future.
Jesus says.... ""Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,'*
spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" (whoever
reads, let him understand), 16 "then let those who are in Judea flee to the
mountains. ...."Here is the significance, with the recent election in Israel of the Kadima
Party under Olmert, his stated position is that the West Bank
(Judea/Samaria) will be evacuated. Well, in order for the Jews to flee from
Judea, they must first be in Judea, which they are now. If this prophecy is
about the AntiChrist coming into the Temple at the 3 1/2 year mark into the
Tribulation then the policy of Olmert takes on some interesting things.1. Either God will remove him from power to prevent this evacuation.
2. A massive terrorist attack on Israel that will change his mind,
Although, not likely. Just look at his no response to the suicide bomber
last week.
OR
3. We are so close to Matthew 24 starting that before Olmert evacuates they
will be fleeing. If that is so, then how close can the rapture be and the
starting of the Tribulation?
