"Did I see correctly?"

Hello Doves,

I briefly watched the funeral of the late Pope John Paul II on TV and I need clarification on the following:

the coffin appeared to have a symbol like a cross but it appeared to me that the horizontal portions forming the cross were of different lengths, with the left portion smaller than the longer right portion. Did I really see the cross clearly?

the longer right horizontal portion of the cross appeared to have a letter “M” just below it. If indeed it was an M, what does it stands for?

from the commentary, it seems that the funeral was supposed to be a resurrection celebration, if indeed that’s correct, whose resurrection was it all about? The Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrection or someone else who is to resurrect in the not distant future?

how do we pronounce the late Pope John Paul II’s surname [Karol Wotjla (sp)] before he became the Pope.
