Hi All,
I just finished watching a program on the Discovery channel titled
"! Noah's Ark: The Real Story". Among other things, it stated that it is
scientifically impossible to flood the entire earth- there simply< /FONT> isn't
enough water. Another argument disputed being able to build an ark to
hold every species and having the time to heard them into the ark. I
have always taken every word of the Bible as fact, but the arguments got
me to thinking. Does anyone here have any good arguments 'for' the flood
story? I'd appreciate hearing them :)

I agree with you, the Bible is fact. Noah had as much as 120 years to build the Ark according to God's specs. With the perfect architect of the universe directing Noah and his three sons, it was possible. The Ark was as large as an ocean liner, and eight people didn't take up much space. I imagine the animals hibernated during that year. Whatever, God took care of them.
Noah didn't have to herd the animals into the Ark. All the animals came to Noah, who was already in the Ark. Human or animal, all boarded the Ark on the same day. After they were all aboard, the Lord shut them in, and it began to rain.
Gen 7:11-15 says, "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month (Cheshvan 17), THE SAME DAY were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. ! And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. IN THE SELFSAME DAY ENTERED Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; THEY, AND EVERY BEAST after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort. And THEY WENT IN UNTO NOAH into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life."

Whoever wrote that script didn't know what he was talking about. This is a watery planet. Right now, if the land were flat, the entire surface would be below sea level. The water would cover the earth.
Right now, scads of house-sized water comets hit our atmosphere every day.

Right now, there are vast underground aquifers. Right now, we have springs and artesian wells bringing water out of the ground naturally. We have lakes and rivers fed by springs. In Noah's day, there was a tremendous amount of water in the atmosphere too. It hadn't rained since Adam was created.
On Cheshvan 17, 1656 years after Adam was created, "THE SAME DAY were ALL THE FOUNTAINS OF THE GREAT DEEP BROKEN UP, AND THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN WERE OPENED."
There is "water under the earth." Think of how ! many wells are drawing water out of the underground aquifers now. Every person on Earth needs water every day. Ex. 20:4 says, "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in THE WATER UNDER THE EARTH."
The average elevation of the continents is 2790 feet above sea level.
The average depth of the oceans is 12,230 feet below sea level.
There is much more water below sea level than land above sea level."If the earth's solid surface were reduced to a single level plain, that is, if the continents were reduced to rubble and poured into the ocean basins, the earth would be completely covered by an ocean 2640 M (1660 ft) deep." This is from my copy of "Exploration of the Oceans," by John G. Weihaupt, p. 31. As you can probably tell, I'm very interested in Geography, Oceanography and Astronomy.
In Gen. 1:2, the whole earth was covered with water. It says! , "the earth was (hayah, became) without form, and void (tohu and bohu , waste and desolation, probably because of an asteroid impact); and darkness (from the thick dark smoke and debris) was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon THE FACE OF THE WATERS."
In Gen. 1:9,10, "God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto ONE PLACE (i.e., the Pacific Basin, probably formed when the Moon was blasted off the Earth by an asteroid impact), and LET THE DRY LAND APPEAR: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas."
Job 38:8-11 says, "who shut up THE SEA with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and THICK DARKNESS A SWADDLINGBAND FOR IT, AND BRAKE UP FOR IT MY DECREED PLACE (the Pacific Basin), and set bars and doors, And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?"
A large asteroid seems to have come in at an obliqu! e angle and hit Earth. I think this caused a portion of Earth's crust to reach escape velocity of 7.5 miles per second and eventually form our Moon. Just as we would expect in a case like this, it is pockmarked with craters on top of craters. Also, it rotates at the same rate as Earth and is still moving away from us at about an inch per year. No wonder so many of the same minerals are found on both Earth and Moon. The Moon is lacking those that would have vaporized in the heat of the initial explosion. Sodium, potassium, lead and rubidium are relatively depleted on the Moon. The shock caused the abundance of glass beads found on the Moon. We have glass ash in our Pacific Basin and glassy microspherules scattered all over the Earth, mute evidence of asteroid impact. The impact probably knocked Earth into its 23 degree axial tilt. The impact would also explain the nickel/cobalt ratio of Earth's upper mantle.
